I talk to people, ex-racers, draggers, trans-am guys, mechanics, and I've come across a question I can't get a definate answer to: Will the k-member from my donor 1973 440 New Yorker (C-body) fit my 1973 318 Charger? I keep hearing "it should", call me greedy but I want either "it does" or "it don't", preferably from someone who has tried.

REASONS: K-Member I got has a big crack in it where it busted a weld, so it needs to be removed regardless, NY is perfect. New Yorker is a PRISTINE car. 126k miles, owned by an old lady whose husband bought it new and she never drove it, the 440 in it of course a dream find, but the body is spotless and complete and I'll not let it be crushed, I'd like to freshen up my Chargers 318 and put it back in the NY, making it more likely to go to a good home afterwards.

I just need to know 100% if the k members can be swapped.

Never once didn't start, never stranded me, never once did not take me where I needed to go. Daily driver of 4+ years.

Currently undergoing 413/727 swap after I finally beat the 318 til it lost a headgasket. The kicker is the 318 still cranks and runs like nothing is wrong. I love my ca

I don't see how a k-member from a C-Body style will fit a B-Body. If I'm not mistaken, the C-Body was a full frame car while B-Bodies weren't. See if you can look up a part number to compare.

No, it looks alot like the Charger from underneath. If no one knows I guess I'll find out the old fashioned way.

Don't waste your time.

It's not even close.

Grim,

If you can't get it fixed.  Search the yards for 75 and up cordoba's, magnums, charger etc.  They have the same k-frames for small and big block cars

K members sell for nothing, like $40, why not just get another??!?

Seriously? Who's got em? All I can find are expensive 3rd party tubular members. Ebay has been little help.

I agree.  OK  Maybe $50 or $100, but still....

Here is one option:

You can salvage yard search by location, etc.  Yours needs the motor mounts changed to fit the 440 anyway.

I think I'll get the one I got now patched. 1975+ members I'm not thrilled about bacause I intend to get a Ford style power rack and pinion. I'll just keep an eye out for a big block k-member for future use. Thanks anyways.
