Front Discs/ Not Releasing

Ive installed a set of Jegs Premium front discs, they work good but seem to not release all the way.Overheating and vibrating,what should I do.I have a 72 Disc/drum master from NAPA.

I would check to make sure all the air is out of the system then check the master cylinder and your proportion valve. It sounds like to me u got air trapped somewhere in the system

Power brakes or manual? If power, the pushrod in the booster might be adjusted too long and preventing the rear piston in the MC from fully returning...this will trap pressure in the front brake system.

When the front brakes don't release, try loosening the nuts on the MC and allow it to come forward, if the brakes then release the pushrod adjustment is the problem.

Same goes for manual brakes; if anything prevents the rear piston from returning, the front brakes won't release.

Thanks John, I'll try that .I think I might or spun the rod out a little trying to make them work better.That would be great!

 Did you put in new front brake hoses also? If not it would be a good idea as brake hoses can rot from the inside. When they do they don't let the fluid return so the brake stays on with some pressure. Try the other ideas first but if nothing  works check the hoses.

And be certain you do not have a residual pressure valve going to the disks.

The master cly adj rod was the problem; I cant believe it was the problem all along.I didn't measure it good enuf the first time ,Wheels spin free now,Thanks.
