I just rebuilt this car and had these apart for cleaning but it appears there was a water leak into the housing. Water came in but didn't leave so it was sitting there for quite a few weeks. Anyway one socket got so rusted the bulb had to be busted out. I sand blasted it to remove the rust but the spring loaded socket no longer moves in and out. Is there any way to replace this or fix it?

vancamp

you can take apart a new socket and use the contact and spring in your housing or posiibly order a new housing heres one of several wiring links i found using google

I have the same problem. The previous owner cut out the old socket and put another type in there and ran a ground wire to the housing.  It's lasted the 16 years I've had the car, but not optimum.

I'll be watching this thread.   :popcrn:

You can buy the replacements at any local auto parts store.
