Painting steel wheels....tires on or off?

Possibly getting a set of steel wheels & was looking for advice on having them painted.

Obviously it should be easier to paint them while the tires are off but if doing it that way, dont you run the risk of paint damage when mounting them?

How have others done it??

I painted mine with the tires off. The shop that did them for me was very careful and they looked fine after mounting the tires.

Then I scraped the heck out of them putting on the deep dish caps on and off several times.  :brickwall:

Are you planning another change?

I've done them with the tires on before, Chris. Not too bad, just have to mask them real tight. Or, deflate & then mask the tire, paint, and re-inflate.

But, that might be a moot issue now, eh?  ;)
