My buddy bought one of these " things " last year.  He really likes it.  Anyone know of any?  I found it to be very well made.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Looks like a snowmobile set up w/ pneumatic suspension.

Funny you say that because he hates it when people compare the two. I never noticed it until he said it.

Yep. I can think of 2 dealers within 50mi of the house. I think it gives folks the feel of a motorcycle without the worry of 2 wheels.  :shruggy: Don't see lots of them on the road though.

I haven't ridden one but have been thinking of heading up to one of the dealers and taking one for a spin. I wonder if it requires a MC endorsement on your license. While I can't see ever owning one my dad was thinking of picking one up.

That was his reason for buying it.  Being on a bike that he didn't have to worry about dropping.

Don't see lots of them on the road though.

There are 2 very good reasons for that.

1: Most states require a Class-M license to operate any sort of "trike" and the last time I checked most states also require that the motorcycle license test be taken on a motorcycle. In my experience, most people that want to ride those things possess neither the skills nor the ambition to pass the license test on two wheels.

2:Price. The base model starts at $16,499. For that price you could easily buy TWO imported motorcycles or one brand new Harley or Victory motorcycle.

I really don't see the point in these things. If I can't drag a knee through a turn I don't want to ride it but that's just me...

I have seen about a dozen running around in my area.

CA does not require a Class M to ride one.

Its supose to have a traction control system to prevent the fliping issue that most 3 wheel vehicles have.

Also if I remember correctly they also only get like 30MPG

Looks like lots of fun.

or maybe its not a skill issue, but rather a preference?  have the same open road experience while maintaining a leisurely pace with a more stable platform.  your assessment of people, who are not like you, is kind of rough and harsh do you not think so?  I do not own one, nor will I ever, but your characterization is condescending to those who may.

*edit* i just saw one in Topeka about 2 hours ago.. looked alot better in person than on a picture.  front wheels are wider apart than I thought they would be.

I saw a display of these at this year's World Of Wheels. The sales person was telling people that these things can out handle/out corner a "sport bike" by more than 50%... Not sure about that, but it was their big pitch.

A buddy of mine bought his wife one of these , this past year... No thank you.

it's got a Ford Focus engine. Heat. A/C.

But still, no thanks, especially at around $30k.

he did say that, but about his preference with draggin a knee in a corner.  the "thats just me" comment did not come after his "no skills or ambition comment".  So.. on that note.. we will leave it up to him to where he really wanted that statement to be.

Steve,  I dont hate ya, I dont know ya, but if someone on this board had one of these and read what you wrote, you just called them an unskilled rider with no ambition.  that is what i am saying.  I, above all people, need to watch what i say and I dont catch it all the time.  that is where i expect other members on this board to keep me in check too.

RD, I did word that poorly. I don't mean to insult or offend ANYONE, especially on this site. So, please accept my sincere apology if I have offended any one of you. I judge no one for their own personal preferences. You like what you like and unless it directly affects me I have no problem with it...

What I was getting at is that, speaking purely from MY own experiences, MOST people I have met who prefer these things would not want to go through the trouble to get a motorcycle license if it was required in their state. Of the handful of these that I have seen and owners I have met; most of them were young guys who either wanted to get out of taking their MC class or thought that they had an excuse to ride like a complete idiot just because they don't think they can fall over. :slap:

Of course, being a young male riding a sport bike, I get weird looks because I DON'T ride like a moron...
