I belive we talked about this topic before,my car is finally soon ready for paint and with all the things I still have to buy to get it even on the road it don't leave me with much cash to do any thing to the eng .Many of you guys told me I should change the cam if I want to turn it into a 4bbl .I did some reading up and if I were to change it then I should change the Valve springs too. Then when you change this you gotta change that I'm sure you all know what I mean. The thing is this motor runs really nice and I do have a 383 magum block I was going to build up in a few years. So my question is what is a good size carb for my 2bbl eng if I were to put a stock 4bbl intake on .I realize that it will do swat for power improvment but I'm more worried about hesitation and problems like that. Thanks

If you just want to leave it stock with a little cam....I've had good luck with an Edelbrock 1405 manual choke carb.  I HAD an Eddy Performer with it, but I found that it runs better with the stock intake with a 2" carb spacer.  Ovr 70,000 miles on it, and still going strong!!  (Psssssst.....But I have an HP 440 on the stand I'm assembling as we speak, new Sure Grip rear, and tranny too!!) As long as they are maintained  properly....those B/RB engines will run forever!!

I would think a standard performer intake and a 600 to 650 4160 or maybe 4150 style holley will do just fine.  To be honest though if it runs fine and your happy and you have budget issues I would just leave it be.  For sure have a good exhaust that sounds nice, but just keep it a cruiser.

My buddy had to swap a 2 bbl intake back into his 318 because the tq took a dump and he was so happy with the 2 bbl he didn't even bother to fix the carb.

Just my 2 cents though...

Do you mean he had 4 bbl on it and changed it back to a 2bbl?May I ask what do you mean by the tq took a dump?

Yep.  I had rebuilt the original 318 with a bigger cam and a 72 stock 340 intake and a rebuilt Thermoquad carb.  After a year the thermoquad started leaking at the bowl and it started washing the rings and running like crap.  We were driving the car to the 08 nationals in columbus in a week so we had to get the car running fast so we swapped the 4 bbl back to the original 2 bbl.  Car ran excellent and he liked it so much he kept it that way right up till he sold it last year.

It still sounded nice with the dual exhaust and got around 18-19 mpg so it was a very nice cruiser.
