Problems with new brake conv kit

I have a 68 Charger w/power drum brakes. I am converting it to power disc front brakes and I just bought a kit from The Right Stuff through Matts Classic Bowties on eBay. When I received the kit, the new booster holes didn't match up to the firewall. I called the company and they told me I needed a bracket that was on backorder. I waited 2 wks and the bracket just came today. This doesn't make sense to me. The holes on the bracket line up to the new booster, but still don't line up to the firewall. Plus, there is no eyelet on the booster for the brake rod to mount and the brake rod is MUCH longer than my old one.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with changing over the brakes? I am ready to send the whole thing back!
Would it be possible to use my old booster & master cylinder and use everything else in the kit from the new prop valve on? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have seen all this. But until today, I have never seen such a pain in the ars car like this 68 Charger!

I'm going through the same stuff at the moment. Ordered a brake conversion kit to go from drums to disks. I have the exact same booster. The kit comes with a bracket that kinda looks like the bracket that was used on original hemi cars (otherwise the booster wouldn't clear the valve covers).
I didn't want to use the bracket so I fabricated a spacer (2" deep) with the bolt pattern of the new booster on the one side and the pattern from the firewall on the other side.
This way you can use the new booster with the old brake levers. The eyelet should be in the kit somewhere - just screw it on the brake rod.

I just painted my spacer - I'll try to get pics later. One thing if using a spacer: the new master cylinder will be very close to the fender so that you might have to run the brake lines on the engine side (heatshield needed?).

Now it makes sense! I didn't realize the whole bracket mounted in the engine bay! What a stupid setup! They didn't send me any pics or instructions on the bracket at all! I am very unhappy with this product! How can they sell stuff like that! It makes no sense. Thank you so much for the info and link! I will favorite it to use for reference. I will need to call the company today and get this straightened out-they still didn't send me all the pieces. I wish I would have known this before I bought it-I never would have purchased it.
If it wasn't for this site I would have given up a long time ago!  :2thumbs:

Just dump the bracket (it's a joke quality wise) and make your own. What you need are two U shaped brackets (like in the link I posted they use with the second booster).

btw you're welcome

Here's a pic of the spacer I fabricated:

I went through the same problem. Since I wanted it to look as stock as possible I finally gave in and bought a new master with booster from MP Brakes. Everything mounted right up, no modifications required. The problem is it almost cost as much as one of those cheaper disk brake conversion kits. If I would have known this I would have purchased my kit from Mp Brakes from the get go. I also got ride of the proportioning block that came with the kit and got a new stock distribution block from Inline Tube that included a correct looking hold of valve for a 68. If you like to see pictures just let me know.

I'd like to see some picture. I mounted the booster yesterday together with the bracket I made. was a pita to tighten the nuts (hood is on the car) but now everything sits in the right place!
Is there anything wrong with the proportioning valve that comes with the kit other than not looking original?

I agree, I want the car to look original and that bracket just doesn't cut it. I ended up returning the booster, master cylinder and bracket. I will buy the original or use my old one. I think everything else will match up.
Thanks for the help!
