Got lucky and picked up a grille in decent shape last Saturday and I'm really excited about it.  Anybody got some ideas about how to pull the fenders in to close the gap between them and the grille?

looks good  :yesnod: :coolgleamA:  , nope not really the gap is dictated by the fender to hood gap ,  remove the whole assembley again & try bending the tabs the hold the thread that go through the fender , then you might be able to close the gap on the passenger side , while making the driver side wider , but will be more equel  dont  put any bolts in the center support though , bend that into place when you have set the gap ,   was going to do that to mine , but got bored in the end :slap:

like the DC licence plate  :coolgleamA:

Looks like you should be able to just loosen all the bolts that go through the bushings that hold the grill in the grille frame. Once its loose you should be able to slide it side to side a little bit. Like Tan Top said you might be able to "push" the grille frame one way or another. The attaching point through the fender for the grille frame is thin sheet metal and can be "tweaked" Make sure all the grill to grille frame bolts are soaked in rust penetrant and turn freely without spinning the J clip the bolt screws into. If the J clip spins it will break the plastic tabs/mounting channel of the grille.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Thanks for the info TanTop, I was looking at the way the fenders were made and they looked for the most part set in place so that i could not adjust them to fit the grille (like you said).  I'll try and fine tune it or may just leave it based on how much of a pain it is to put the grille in and hopefully I'm going to have the funds to do the sheetmetal this Winter.  Oh and I've got the DC valve covers to match.  That plate really is cool ain't it?

Thanks 69DodgeCharger I'll try that first so I can maybe fix it without having to take it all back out  :faint:.  Oh and tell me about breaking those mounting tabs, there were probably 5 broken when I bought the grille.  Are there any good companies out there that make those clips and screws to hold the grille in?
