Perhaps, instead of coming on here just to make fun of this issue maybe you should ask yourself why everyday citizens across the country have been, and are quietly arming themselves against the Federal Govt? Why they are now advocating organized State militias, not under the control of the Feds? Why private gun and ammo sales are exploding? Why people are stocking up on "survival" supplies? Why people are dropping off the tax rolls and going into an "underground economy"?  Bubba is a lot smarter than he looks or acts some of the time.

Then maybe you should move to a new country that better suits your ideology. Just a thought?

this can get ugly fast, oh wait, already has.  you all miss my point.  I dont want to get into the political arena in regards to why this, why that, and what you are pissed off about.  i dont care what you think in regards to politics.

so, before you get off on your serious holier than thou "everyone should do their homework to fall in line with my opinion" bs, let us focus more on the HOW.  How will a state that is poverty stricken even attempt to develop or create a state militia when they can barely stay afloat?

you want your militia, good have it.. just dont bankrupt those that dont because you think your opinion is better.

Has anyone be reading the comments posted in the Yahoo article? I don't understand why standing up for their Constitutional Rights they become Hillbilly gun toting Rednecks. I think alot of people in this country are at their breaking point and we might see stranger things than this arise. As far as how they will pay for it, if they want it bad enough they will pass the cost onto us as usual.

Breaking point for what? That's what I don't get. Precisely because we live in a nation of laws and we have a Constitution, if they don't like the situation then they voice their opinions at the voting booth. If you lose, you lose and wait til the next election. That's how it goes. This isn't Somalia or one of those places where whichever warlord has the most guns wins.

All those paranoid delusions about government conspiracies and takeovers are simply a product of having way too much on their hands due to the bad economy, unemployment, white anxiety, whatever... The government can't deliver the mail, let alone engineer some sinister plan to enslave everyone. But when these groups start openly arming themselves and start plotting against the government preemptively, then they're inviting the law to come after them - and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Besides, at that point, these militia guys are no different than Al Qaeda or some similar group that seeks to bring down our country. They're just doing it under a different pretext.

Intersting thoughts.

"A nation of laws"...

True, to bad our local, State and Federal Govt don't apply that standard to themselves.

Wow can I have some of the Kool Aide you're drinking? That comparison is not even close and you know it. Where is the evidence of these so called plots. I haven't seen any?

Ooooh, that's right, sealed indictments. You know to preserve the integrity of the "ongoing investigation" As I said earlier why don't you ask yorself why these people fear the Govt. so much. In my neck of the woods these people aren't all bubba's many of them are business owners, management proffesionals, Police officers, everyday blue collar workers right down to little old ladies. This movement has nothing to do with a half black man, that's right I said half, being in the President's seat. You can pretend all you want there isn't a very serious storm brewing in this country but you will see soon enough. And it won't be very pretty I am guessing.

Because "the government" is the easiest foil in their simplistic paranoid fantasies. They don't want to think about how complex things really are - and blaming the gov't is the easiest, more comfortable route. You could be right...a storm may be brewing, but I can guarantee that if shit really does hit the fan, no militia or coalition thereof will be able to do a thing about it (other can causing some self serving mayhem).

As far as my comparison - let's see...a group of fringe individuals get together, arm themselves, think that the US Government is the enemy, so they go underground and plan some way or another to undermine it under the guise of fighting for their freedom / sovereignty...

Isn't it called treason to plot against our government?  Last I checked the "half black man" is the president and those that don't like the government can always leave and find a new one that they like more.  This is what I was told when I expressed displeasure with the last president.

I was told the same thing...

If you don't want to live under our current Leader/govt you are cordially invited to find elsewhere to reside.  Might I suggest Somalia/China/Columbia ?
