Yup nothing wrong with duct wrap, thats what I used except mine is like a foil backed bubble wrap w/no adhesive.

Yeah, I use it ... .. . . . . ... .. for ducts! :D

Seriously, I think that it will be adequate for heat blocking, but I doubt there is any sound deadening value. The stuff is light and "pourous". Like cotton candy.

Just a thought: once you install it, do you really want to re-do it when/if it proves too loud?  :Twocents:

I dont remember the brand or specific name but it was at Home Depot and was for wrapping ductwork.
It looks like an industrial bubble wrap with a foil backing.
Went with this because it had no adhesive and I layed it on the entire floor pan before putting the carpet down.
It keeps heat out of the car and really helped with noise. I will be using it behind my door panels when I have some money for new panels.

HMMMMM????  :scratchchin:
do you have any pics of what it looked like?!?! i'll go scope it out.....
thanks!!

I don't know if it is "cheap" enough-Eastwoods has a knock off Dynamat now, with the foil backing, it's thermo-coustic, 33.75 square feet for $149.99.  It was enough to do the passenger compartment floors in my 69 T&C wagon, product code 12117- phone800-345-1178. MPJ

I found it, its called "Reflectix"
Its cheap but does the job and can be removed easy if you dont like it and want to spend big$ on Dynamat or something

I think that's the same stuff from Lowes I used in the wife's 68 Firebird.  Can't find the pics of when I put it in but I'll take a peek at it this  weekend to see how it's been holding up since I put it in a good while back.

One word: eDead 80.

Thicker than Dynamat, & cheaper as well. Foil backed butyl sheet, just like Dynamat. It just doesn't have "Dynamat" printed all over it.
I got it directly from them online. I ordered 3 rolls, did the entire inside of the '69, inside the doors, and inside the 1/4's. Still have a roll left over, & will probably use it under the rear seat above the mufflers on the '68. The '68 has Flowmasters, and the drone inside the car is loud at times.
With eDead 80, the '69 is nice & quiet inside.

:iagree:
I think I will be using Grace Ice and Water shield that is used up here is snow country. I would use one that doesn't have any granuals on it. It is self adhesive on one side and smooth on the other.

Cost at Lowes is about $70 for 108 sq. ft. that is 40mils thick.

Yes, in fact I'm doing my car right now with it.  Same stuff from Home Depot! 2 rolls will do mine nicely - I paid $13 each.
I've seen the Dynomat or interior stuff for $75-90 on EBay.  This is not one sheet but is the same stuff and WAY cheaper.  And one foot wide makes it easier to apply imho.  Sticky on one side and foil on the other.
I'm not done yet but if anyone is interested in pics, I can take some tonight.

Eh, should have known the answer to that from our first gen forum.
The only other expense was I purchased a roll of aluminum tape to cover the seams.  BTW, I checkedthe price ... it was $16 at my HD.

HITMAN 149

hey king...
which stuff is that?? the bubble inside stuff OR the insulation type inside stuff?!?!?
looks nice!! good job!!

Same stuff.  Plus one roll of tape. I think it must have been on sale when I got it.  2x13=$26 + 7 =$33 total.  It's gone up to $16 now but still ... way cheaper than Dynamat and easy to install.
I used the tape to insure the cut edges wouldn't curl under the carpet.

Don't you need "mass" to dampen vibration?  How much does that bubble stuff weigh.
