I know he probably will kill me for saying this and I know that some already know but does everyone know that one (or more) of our forum members is serving in Iraq right now?

I just want to give  public props to Ian (D72hemi) for doing his job for his country - 2 tours too.
Regardless of your politics our guys are over there including one of our own and we should just say hey and give support.
Ian will spend Christmas in Iraq while we are with our families.

Hats off to you Ian and keep your head down  :2thumbs:

( your parts will be here for you when you get home)

Folks, no matter what your politics,  we really do appreciate all of your prayers and support.

I'm about to deploy soon, for the first time since November of 2000.  Needless to say, I'm a wee-bit nervous.

When I used to deploy, it was a helluva lot of fun, in awesome places to be at, and for good money.  That all changed on September 11th.

Now deployments are boring, loathsome and to the worst shitholes you can imagine.  I have a family now too, with a beautiful wife and precious one year old daughter, that I didn't have in previous "fun" deployments.  And my mission is completely different now too.  I'm no longer a "trash hauler" flying "slick" C-130's.  I'm in Special Ops, flying the venerable MC-130E Combat Talon, and my signature at the bottom of my posts says it all.

Again, thanks for all of your continued support.

God Bless the warriors and defenders of the faith, both at home and abroad.  God bless us all.

360Cuda,

Just so you know, the Talon 2 (or just T2) may be a newer aircraft (H models), but the crews that fly them are a bunch of friggin "cowboys" who don't trust their instruments.  The old E version of the Talon is far superior and so are the crews that fly them.  My position on the aircraft, as the flight engineer, is the "concious" of the crew and the one who runs the "sanity checks".  I take on and pass on fuel too, which is a verrrry cool aspect of my mission up there.

Duey, I hope to see you in a few months in the place we spoke of earlier.

We do have a lot of “Alphabet Soup” in the military. So much that we even have an acronym “for” acronyms. WWWDWA, What Would We Do Without Acronyms! LOL. I  have to use http://www.acronymfinder.com/, sometimes, just to understand a few of the e-mails that I have received. Just yesterday I over heard a 5 minute conversation that contained only acronyms, call signs, specialized Terminology ( ”code words”). I was completely lost, even though I knew what the basic topic of their conversation was (work).

Bradley, we'd call you the "FE limiter" (as in fuel limiter in the governor)  I agree, there are some guys who need a conscience...luckily you "own" the throttles, so you can keep the AC and FO in line!  ;D

Yup, gimme a hollar when you get in...I'd walk a mile for a camel...I mean I'd take a camel to come see a fellow Charger-nut! :D

Cheers,

p.s.  Doctorpimp, I'll try and come down to see you too...might be down for Comd's O-Group one of these days while our 9A is home on leave.

psykicpup, will do!  We (Canucks) had some of our Commonwealth brothers over to our lines in ISAF HQ in Kabul for a Christmas luncheon yesterday.  The lads are camped just a few km's down the road from us and I get out from time to time and see some of the lads.  They're on a pretty ugly part of the road between Kabul and Jalalabad...most suicide bombers/IED's you hear about in Kabul are on that stretch of highway.  They maintain a pretty upbeat attitude though, considering.  I'll hoist one with them next time I'm over in their lines.
