Seller has this advertised as a remote hood latch for a 71 B-body (including Charger) but I've never seen one of these on a Charger...
Anyone know what model this is from?

yeah was thinking trunk relese also at first , but they have a rod  to relese the catch from the actuator ! that one looks like a cable to me  :scratchchin: :shruggy: :popcrn:

Yep, trunk latch was my first thought, too. But I've never seen one with a cable connection like that either. So I dug up my archive pic of the vacuum one but it doesn't seem to match...  :scratchchin: Now, I'm not 100% sure this vacuum deck lid latch is for a 71 B-body.

The interesting thing that points to a hood latch, is there isn't a provision for operation with a key... :shruggy:

looks just like that vacuum latch you showed to me, just no vacuum attached to it, the 1st gen trnk latches had a flat rod going from the key cylinder to the latch itself, no key shows on the latch, my car isn't here anymore or i would take a pic to show ya, A383WING probably can tell just from looking at it

I think not, there's no slot for the rod from the keyset in the mystery latch; there IS in the vacuum version -

mauve66

ok, but seems to me to have the same features

red circle is where rod goes from key cylinder
green circle is rivet from latch itself to vacuum bracket
blue circle is same angle from edge of latch bracket
pink outline is just the vacuum bracket that is riveted to the latch itself

Pinky...first 2 photos of this thread shows pics of latches with no key rod slots..so they cannot be for the rear trunk

Rolling_Thunder

what about a later model Aspen or Volare ?  Did those use a cable release hood catch ?  C-bodies ?  anyone ?   ::)

:iagree:
It is a hood latch but I'm pretty sure it's not for a 71-74 Charger. Do the 68-70 Chargers use this type latch?

A383Wing

68-70 Chargers did not have inside hood release.....

charger440six_pac

The stamping is ISE 0071 or 1SE 0071, which would make the date code 0071 (7-Jan-71)? That would make it for a 71 production year vehicle.

k, i seee what i did, after looking at the first pic i later connected it to the other pic and then started comparing the vacuum one to the pic after my thread

sorry, the stress of having Mary gone is just too much here lately :coocoo:
