I am starting from scratch with my  suspension have my leaf springs in back factory have the rear struts but do not know if they are good. They look modified air maybe and nothing in the front but ball joints no strut  Just want to know what i should do air ride or what other options i should think about. My car had a 383 with 727 auto on the column. I am going to put a 440 with 4 speed on the floor. Tks guys looking forward to all input.

Depending on what you are looking for.......if it is handling, i would go with either a Bill Reilly og XV front suspention, and a 3 or 4 link rear, with coilovers. Smoother ride also, over the leaf springs.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

tks do you have link to ck out price and will it work with original k frame

Whats the budget; whats the performance objective; will the car see any track time; will the track time be strip, autocross or track days; whats your perception of good handling, do you need/want to have extreme amounts ride height adjustability, do you need to be able to alter spring rates quickly?

Answer those questions and we can steer you in the right direction at the right cost to get the right results.

I was thinking around around 3000 for budget i was wanting it to  handling better than it had stock. Like a new Dodge Challenger. Wanted to take it on the track just strip to have fun not no really compeat. I was going to put on for wheels the new version that American racing made the 15 inch vector SE.have original k frame which is fine for my front. would like to work with the kframe for suspension  do not think need right height adjustability or alter spring rate just want it to handle a 440 big block with pos rear end

Now Think Realisticaly....What are you planning to be doing with your Charger.

1 Occasional Driver, Shows and back, with a Burnout or two ?
2 Regular Driver, 3-4+ trips a week, enjoy driving agressively ?
3 To the Drag Strip 3-4+ times a year, possibly running sticky tires ?
4 Track use or High speed driving with late model handleing ?

You really need to prioritize with a $3000 budget.

You need to start off with a Good foundation, and that is Fresh/New suspension Bushings thruout, Fresh/New Shocks (designed to suit your needs)  the right tires and a Good alighnment.
You'd be at $3000 now.

From here you beging to inquire about Sway Bars
                                                         Subframe connectors
                                                         Torque Boxes
                                                         Suspension upgrades
The most important steps are your first ones. starting backwards is counter productive.
PST and Just Suspension both carry Full package suspension upgrades, All in one deal.
Firm Feel, Hotchkis, XV motorsports, all carry a level two type setup . That will really dial you in.

The $3000 budget and desire to keep the stock K frame in it eliminates all aftermarket set ups as they replace the K, typically start at $3k and only go up in price from there and that doesn't include brakes, in most cases. So does that $3000 include new wheels tires or basic rebuild items like Big Sugar asked or is that seperate?

If seperate, easiest way; call up XV and get their Stage 1 kit, add in their radiator support and some subframe conenctors and yout set. Their suspension kit is aroun $2200 and the bracing will run another $300. This is also assuming you have a good steering box, brakes, wheels and tires, but will get you the best possible overall set up for street and occasional track time.

The ala cart approach is staged based on purchases and finances. Start with subframe connectors and radiator support $300 to give a solid foundation, XHD style rear leafs $200, 1.0 t-bars $200, 1.125 front sway bar $150, some decent shocks $300, modern alignment (hint here is don't use the stock specs)$100. That still leaves some room for wheels, tires, steering or brake upgrades.

Tks I looked it up I think the XV STAGE 1 KIT WILL WORK FINE FOR ME. I WAS GOING TO GET THE Chassis stiffening system too.  But I also have to get brakes and rotors. and my 15 in vector se rims"general lee rims" but that is a totally differnt budget. This year will be body and paint next year will be suspension and brakes tks again. I just want to do home work before the time comes so I know what I need and don't go backward with progress tks.
