Going to have the Charger down for a bit...... And i figured i'd go ahead and put a fresh set of valve springs/seals on it while it was apart.

440ci.
It has the MP Purple shaft, "hydraulic" 284/484 cam.....

Any help would be appreciated!!

Mopar recommends the 933 spring which is a single spring with a damper , the Comp 911 spring is similar & probably cheaper , any spring similar with 120lb closed pressure & 280-300lb open should work fine

:iagree: The comp 911 is fine for that application.

I am running the MP 933 and hgappy with them. I get a 17% discount from Ma Mopar so might be the same prices as the Comp cams.

So when i go to look for them.... Just ask for the Comp. 911's... or the Mopar 933's???

Chryco Psycho

yes
the Mopar spring has a 7 digit part# but the 933 identifies the spring

Ex President

Where's the best place to get em??

Jeg's?? Summit??

Chryco Psycho

Sure
or local dealer if you get good pricing from Mopar

no I am talking about the springs , I have seen sets that look good But the pressures are whacked , all over the place as they are used a weakened

my buddy runs a machine shop that does heads . he rebuilds all my heads tests all the pressures, spring heights and installs the hardened seats. he polished and ported the last set of 906's. they have a flow bench. never had a problem plus we use the barter system. it's just takes awhile cause he does it for me on the side. i'm building him a kick ass guitar for his troubles. it's a shame they don't do blocks. i have 2 sets of heads waiting to be rebuilt and i got them from ebay too.  Rene

Is this just a stock replacement valve spring, or a "performance orientated" spring??  If you had the Mopar 933's and the Comp 911's sitting in front of you and you could only pick one set to use...... Which would it be???        ::)

Just don't want to go through all that trouble and have them get tired after a year or so.

Personally, i'd go with the Comp 911's. Don't worry, they'll be fine for the application and last a long time.   ;)

Why is that??

I don't trust MP quality.  ;) Also, the MP 933 springs are rated for .510 lift so if you go bigger on the cam in the future....those springs are useless. The comp 911's will tolerate higher lifts w/o coilbind issues.
