Thinking B-Body, 68-74.
5K or less.

Something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974-Plymouth-Roadrunner-340-Classic_W0QQitemZ110514231358QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item19bb29583e

Sure, I would prefer a real road runner.  But need a driveable car, preferrebly even road worthy.  And 5K or so will not buy a lot of Mopar.
No one will bemoan a 318 satellite getting left outside and driven hard either.

Has anyone taken a look at the car?  I would love to hear from someone that has.  I would not be able to check it out first.

Please post good canidates you know of.

I forgot to say-
yeah, the chrome on the one in the link I attached is painted over so probably bad, no underbody photos, etc.  what do you think of the interior, overall, for the price range?

I paid $650 for my '73 Duster and I put about $1,100 into it and I can drive it whenever I want and it looks good :2thumbs:

:iagree:
It will probably be much easier to find a nice driving A-body in that price range. Im not saying you cant find a '68-'74 B-body that runs and drives for ~5k but you would be hard pressed to. I gave $2300 for my '75 dart and it gets driven every day and looks pretty cool too.

Current MoPars:
1968 Charger. 318 Out of commission:(
1975 Dart Swinger. 225 Pops daily ride.
1990 Dodge Ram. 360FI My daily ride.
2007 Magnum R/T. 5.7 Family wagon.

My fav A body... 70 Swinger 340 ( or 71 Scamp )

My Fav B body, being not a Charger... 70 Coronet

I think both can be found "on the cheap", more the 70 Swinger

71 Demon 340 or Scamp 340 are valid too, but not really in love with them mainly because I like the rear roll down feature... but a 71 Duster 340 grille looks TERRIFIC! and the rallye cluster on these... but also available on a Swinger 340

( I know you didn't ask about MY fav cars, but just that I think they could fill the budget requirements, more than the rest of B bodies )

Yes, more car for the money in general with the smaller a body cars and the large full sized cars.

but still looking in the mid sized range. :yesnod:

b5blue

I agree, B body is the way to go for me! I love the fact that my "mid size car" is longer and wider than my buddy's Town Car and my Bro's Caddy!

Tilar

They just don't come any cleaner than this one, and he has the goodies for a Road Runner clone. And if I remember correctly it is a low mile car.

troy.70R/T

that is a real nice looking clean car. :2thumbs:  You know buying a car without a motor would probably save you alot of $$$$.   Its not that hard to find a running 318 to throw in something untill you build motor. (big block of course) :2thumbs:  Good luck with your search.

ramairthree

Thanks for the link, that one is even further from me.

The green.....
why do some of the ones that show up in nice shape have to be green?

That's alright... It's close to me. You buy it, I'll go pick it up and I'll make sure the battery stays charged up until a time you can come get it.   :D

Saw a third gen charger on Moparts in VA.

Anyone know the car?

burnout

Also, when you have the model charger with the slats over the rear seat windows, what happens when you take it off,

does someone have a picture of that? thank you.

Needs a frame to fill the outer border of what louvers left ( inside and outside ), coming from a 74 M07 Code car donor ( opera window without louvers )

if you remove the vinyl top.. will need bondo to hide the body plug filler for the quarter glass opening

thank you nacho.  I am not a fan of the square opera windows.
You once posted an SE with roll down rear windows.

is this the model third gen with the "largest" or "swoopiest" rear window?

Which models will have this?

jaak

Just take your time and look around. There are still deals out there. I had been wanting a good "driver" Mopar for a while, to have something to cruise in while finishing the 69. After about 6 months of searching ebay, craigslist, local ads, etc. I found this '73 Rallye. The owner had already done some work to it, bought the new wheels and tires, and took the interior to get re-done. I bought the car, went by the upholstery shop, and paid for and picked up the interior. A couple of months after getting it, I had to replace the clutch, so I went ahead and pulled the engine to paint it and the engine bay. Its a nice looking, driving Mopar and really all it needs is a fresh paint job. Right now as it sits I have a little over $3800 in it.

Good luck with your search,
Jason

ramairthree

jaak- I hear you.
Problem for me is, I get on a kick for one car, don't find the right one.
But then I already have the urge for something else.

I would love a 442, chevelle SS, Challenger, cuda, sleeper post coupe tempest, daytona clone, 2nd gen charger, 3rd gen RR,
full sized impala or galaxie fastback, etc. etc.

just need the right car to fall into place at the right time since I cant have them all.

this is an ONLY 73 year setup, and hard to find. Not many were build. Maybe because to pay for an SE roll down glasses you could get a Rallye, and ppl on that case preffered a Rallye :shruggy: ... not too many differences between and SE and a rallye, just some trim.

Really dunno the prices differences on those years.

SE was half of the production sold though, but dunno the roll down glasses breakdown. I have only seen 4 or 5 in 10 years websurfing, never personally ( of course I'm not from there and they weren't assemblied in Venezuela )
