i was wondering if any of the parts are interchangable between the 426 and the baby hemi's, or even if head/intake are interchangable between the 354 and the 392.
-and does anyone know much about the old 413's??  I found a running one for 600$ and was wondering what (if any) parts it shares with the 383 B's.

thanx

I don't know too much about old HEMIs but I can tell you the 413 is an RB block which makes it similar to the 426 and the 440. The 360, 383, 400 are B blocks and they are shorter and lighter. The Heads interchange with a 383....

Also $600.00 seems like alot for a 413 but maybe that's just me. A buddy of mine picked up a nice 413 for $275.00 a month or so ago with the 727 included.

Nothing will swaap between the 14 early style  50s Hemis & the 426 based engines , some parts will swap between the old Hemis , 331 , 354 & 392 will swap heads , the 354 had better heads
the 413 is the small RB block & is similar with most parts to the 426 W & 440 , $600 is too much to pay for a 413 generally unless it si rebuilt or has more to it than just a running core

Unless there is some speical about the 413 like 30,000 miles and ready to be driven I as well think it is to high. If it is a good driver and all you have to do is drop it in, then I might go $600.00.

If you have to or going to rebulid the 413, save your money for a 440. For the heck of it, can you the numbers off the heads?

hopefully i'll make it down there this week.  Just talked to the guy over the phone right now.  -That 600$ is for the car too.  I'm almost positive he said it was a 63 newport. --is there a difference between the car 413's and the motorhome ones??

Bandit72

i chose a 413 because they have thicker main castings than a 440...that and i like to be different....lol
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

yes the motorhome 413's have different heads, intakes, and water pump housings....i'm not sure but i think you can put car heads on them, and put regular intake on them...same with water pump housings....you cannot buy after market (i.e edelbrock) intakes for the industrial heads...

Bandit72, I may be wrong, but I don't think there was a 413 Motor home engine. I know the later motor home 440 had extra water ports to keep there from being spark knock in the heads. I also think the 250 heads where 906 heads with the extra cooling passages.

I have only did one Motor Home 440 and it went back into the motor home. Pretty much looked like a normal 440.

When you say industrial, do you mean RB's that use the extra bosses on the rear of the block as motor mount's? I know they are out there, but never seen them, the industrial engines that is.

i honestly don't know a whole bunch about them...but i do know that they had a 413 in a motorhome cause i looked at one in a local salvage yard when i was looking for mine, all i know about them is the heads, intake, and waterpump are different...

ken they had 413 industrial/motorhome motors all the way up to 1978 i believe (mainly industrial applications with the extra coolant port on the heads).
