In the process of hanging full AMD quarter panels and I am wondering about the black coating that the panels came with; do you have to remove this coating, or can you go ahead and epoxy prime over it?

We stripped it off of the panels on my bronze car.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

You can base over that  black e-coat after sanding with most paint systems, but my experience has been better adhesion and chip resistance by first spraying a couple coats of good epoxy or urethane primer then resanding.

I'm assuming the e-coat their panels, though I haven't bought any from them.

If it is e-coat I would leave as much of it as possible on it, scuff it well and shoot a couple coats of epoxy and do your body work from there.  The e-coat wil provide the best corrosion protection.
