What are the options today for a replacement Daytona nose - fiberglass and steel both please . I've seen the Janek and am not impressed.

Edit , as close to a 100%  stock outward appearence and operation as OEM is a major requirement should it make a difference in suggestions

Thanks
Bill

I dont think gene gregory is making daytona steel nose at this time , but i have seen a couple of his old ones on ebay in the last year .    Gene is still making bird noses in steel .

Wow! Thats completely different from what he told me....Good news! Genes nose parts a stamped from what Ive gathered too.Where Jack M. hand forms his parts, very nicely though i will say. My nose top from Jack fit beautifully. My lower cetner section is from Gene and was also a nice part, but the grille opening was too deep and needed some bending tweeking and lead.

At the 2009 MMW I asked if was still planning to do them, and he said the development was underway...

Showcars nose.
Need to make your own attaching points for Z brackets.

The Janek nose that I'm installing on Allen Kirgan's Daytona clone fits pretty nice. Seems like Ted told me that he's made several improvements since this one was made. I think he's inserting aluminum brackets for the z-braces now.
My Dayclona Superbird nose that I bought for the clone project is top notch all the way. I guess someone else will be building that car though since it's for sale.

No problem Brian... I did not mean to imply that... I tried calling Gregory twice this morning, but it kicks over to voicemail after the 2nd ring... didn't leave a message.

I may be reading too much into the "development is underway" comment...  might be barely started...  :shruggy:

I wish AMD would repop them at about $1000 each... I'd even loan my NOS nose to Mark Headrick for the project!  :yesnod: (That is assuming he promised to return it in the same condition as received.)

Steel is the 1st choice, but would not rule out a nice glass nose , simply because this car is going to get driven .It's sat entirely to long as it is.
He has an old Janek nose he bought back in the late 80's - early 90's and I wasn't impressed with overal quality on my initial looksee

For a repop steel nose, whos is best and why?
What, if any, mods or tweaking were required ?

At this point in time the only option for a steel nose is Jack McGauhey, unless you can find find of Gene Gregory's noses that someone has hanging around.

The Steel part that I got from Jack was the top of the nose and it required almost nothing ,right out of the crate. I would like to assume the rest of his stuff is just as nice.

I've heard the Jack McGauhey nose requires HE fit it to the car? meaning  I have to take the semi assembled body to him for fitment ?
