Is that what a DOH cb antenna is? If so what is a reasonable price for a good condition used one? Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wouldn't mind having the "right" one.

I've got one from RS. that I bought in the CB craze of the 70s and I want to find out if it is the  (right) one.

RS carried the same antenna for decades and finally disco'd it about 6 or 8 years ago.  That was for all the small-pushbar GLs and a few of the early wide-pushbar cars.  It's the antenna with the black plastic teardrop-shaped base that clips on over the edge of the trunklid.

Last time I checked RS was still carrying a very similar one with a more oval-rounded black plastic base.

The General Lees from season #5 onwards switched to a lesser known Avanti model that bolted through a hole drilled in the trunklid.  (The clip-on RS antennas didn't stay on well enough for the crew's liking.  And the metal ball on the end of their whips could crack the rear window glass in extreme cases.)

I have the teardrop style antenna. Paid about $100 for it. I saw one on ebay just recently go for about $125 but have also seen them go well over $200. Post up a pic of the one you have.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

The one I have has a gray teardrop base that attaches to the leading edge of the deck lid with 2 set screws. It also has a white fiberglass mast about 3 ft. long with a black plastic tip on the end. It worked well as I used it on  a few of my cars.  It might have been the store but all they had was magnetic mounts and drip rail clipons any time I went in and that was years ago.   My camera quit a while ago so I can't do pictures.

The magnetic one is model# 21-940a.  the teardrop is model# 21-908.  As far as teh whip you say you have, with the black plastic tip, that is not the whip that was used.  It may be different then what you think you have.

Thanks, thats what I am looking for. I don't want to sell it or stiff someone with the wrong one or put a stupid price on it if it is the right one,  Thanks

No problem. I have converted quite a few of those from the magnetic base to the teardrop base.  they are on Ebay, you just have to search hard.  Check your local Cb shops too if you have any close.  There are still some shops left out there believe it or not.

This does have a gray tear drop base with 2 set screws that tighten under the edge of the deck lid. The mast is white fiberglass 32" long and 1/8" in diameter with a black tip on the end.  It twas last used about 78-79 and been in the garage since. I think I have a steel mast the same size out of a magnetic mount. :popcrn:
