Colby Lynch of Brookfield, Connecticut, owns one of the limited-production street versions of the '69 Daytona wing cars. Best of all, it's a low-mileage original. He's the fifth owner of this particular Lite Yellow car, which sports a white wing, 440 engine, 727 auto tranny, and 3.55 rear gears. Originally purchased by an architect from Husker Dodge in Omaha, the Daytona spent most of its life out West, heading to Michigan for a short time before winding up in California, where Colby purchased the car from his friend, Jeff Post.

As an unrestored original, the Daytona is precluded from seeing a lot of highway miles, but with sterling racing accomplishments to back up its outrageous profile, this aerodynamic wonder has little else to prove-on the asphalt or the show field.

yeah no offence to any one , with a restored car /none original , all awesome in their own way !!
but would rather see a unrestored original car ,  although as out cars get older !! there are fewer & fewer left original ! collectors / dealers   are restorting them , which is a good thing , but bad also , think i know what i'm trying to say

Hmmm, does Jim's green Daytona have the chrome shifter knob as well? I see this yellow car does and it is supposedly untouched. I have seen another 440 powered AT Daytona that was untouched and it too had the chrome shifter knob.

Danny - I have seen lots with the chrome knob - It was a totally random thing in 69....just like the side marker lenses.

I have yet to see a HEMI Daytona that hasn't been restored with a wood grain knob if that is any consolation. Now on the 440 powered Daytona's the majority I have seen have had the wood grain. Now on the 500's most of them have the wood grain with a small amount of exceptions that have the chrome knob. Just from my observations anyways. I just thought it was odd that of the supposed untouched cars there would be so many of them with the chrome knob.

maxwellwedge

665 and Doc.....Both SE's - I don't think that means anything - just an observation. Didn't the Dressler car have a chrome knob?

69_500

I think your right. Come to think of it how many do we know for sure had the wood grain knobs. I can't think of but a handful of those either.  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

UFO

Wonder how many cars got restored with the owner thinking the chrome knob was wrong and added the woodgrained one.

maxwellwedge

Disco has the wood knob and the VIN and SO are 2 numbers off of the Dressler car. Like I said earlier - there seems to be no rhyme nor reason - 'Ol cheap Ma Mopar used up whatever they had!

this hemi car has the chrome knob
