Last year, the company I drove for downsized, which left me odd man out. But today I just got a job with a cousin of one of the guys I worked with last year. I'll be in road construction again hauling mostly aphalt & gravel, but $16.00 a hour + overtime to start, and state pay when the job pays it (which can be as much as $37. a hour). Below is my new ride, a 2003 Mack CL with the big 427 & 10spd. The truck has only 100,225 miles on it (considering the year, this is very low miles just beyond breakin for a truck) Friday I go to the big MSHA safty meeting (MSHA is the construction (mining) version of OSHA), then around the middle of next month, or shortly after (May), I'll be working. I just hope this year is better then last year. But so far, I am hearing good news on it. The owner just bought this truck and the small excavating company the truck was with. Tomarrow, he is going to re-paint the frame, and the box will get re-painted soon too (lot of rust bubbling). He is looking for some good used alunimum wheels for the rear to put on it too (8 to 12 of them). I took the pic with my cell phone, but you can see it. I got to drive it today too. Rides real good for leaf suspension. This is only the second Mack CL I drove, and the first Mack to drive since 1997. I like it a lot!

Nice looking truck.  :2thumbs:  I stopped driving cross country in the fall of 06 and I miss it sometimes. I thought about trying for a local job like a dump truck and settled for a 4 hour a day mechanic job working on busses for the local school district.   :eek2:  I guess I shouldn't complain, It pays what bills I need to pay.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Congrats!  :2thumbs: Whats your CB handle?

I just go by my first name like most of the guys. But we usually dont go on channel 19 either. It depends on the plant channel is. (or what the other company were working for wants us to use.)

Thanks again. My year so far has been turning out to be awsome (knock on wood).

Now, I got one more big thing I want to happen in my life this year. And I'll find out in a month or two if it will come true. If it does, my life will be outstanding this year.
