I don't really understand this. Why do old wiring harnesses sell for this much?

Cause it's "Original" and that brings big money even if it's crap to everybody else..

We wouldn't still be seeing this stuff if the repro parts for musclecars hadn't all been such complete dogsh*t for so long.  That's the reason why these old parts continue to be valuable even after the good replacement parts finally exist.

Some people live in a world where brand new products are assumed to be better than 40yo used ones.  Not this hobby.  It's 2010 and we're still surprised when a repro part equals the quality of something made in the Johnson administration.

In that case i'm pulling the complete dash harness out of my 69 SE parts car and putting that baby on the bay!

Wow, 4 or 5 years ago I was seeing them go for about that much, but with today's better quality
repop's, you would think 42 year old wiring would go for much less.

I got help 4 years ago putting in a new repop harness, well two of the wires were not routed correctly.
The car died completely because of one of the burned up wires. So I wanted to replace it with a correct
factory color and tracer wire, the aftermarket does not sell most of those yet. So I grabbed an
original harness that had a good wire, and replaced just the one wire with a factory correct color
wire. Old wire harnesses are a little gold mine at times, you can save a ton of money if you hang
on to an original harness still in good shape.

:scratchchin:  should I start selling some of mine   :popcrn:  nope, I never get crazy money for
stuff I sell.

I'm curious, what exactly is wrong with the repop harnesses?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I'm curious also. I put all new harnesses in my 69 last year and they were perfect in every way.
