black, just like she came with.. but there is a twist.  She was an original full vinyl top car, but I didnt want that, so she will get the roof stripe that she never had.

welp.. here are some pics of me putting the ol girl back together...  the front bumper has not been on this car since the 70s from what I understand and boy, it showed it.  talk about a pain in the butt!!! all the moving around the car did, i had to "come-along" the bumper brackets to get the bumper to line up.. the driver's side is still too low, so i will get that bent upwards later on.

did windshield trim, grille, headlight trim, bumpers, and sidemarker lenses.. also, did the wiper assembly (arms, etc.) i have the rear bumper on too.. but it was getting late and I was getting hungry, so I didnt finish tightening down all the bumper bolts.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

UPDATE

So what did you end up using for motorvat ion?

Not sure if you will think I'm insane but I would use the 400 and keep the stock reciprocating assembly, then see what you can get it to run. Sorta like building a NHRA stock class racer but the only "rules" are to keep the stock pistons and heads. Why bother you ask, dunno just a hang up I have.

piggy, well.. I have a 440 from a chrysler new yorker that I just bought.  I plan on swapping my 516 heads onto that (roughly 9.5-9.7 to 1 after that), putting in a 284/484 cam, 4bbl intake and a demon carb and just calling it good.. OR

keep a 400 in it with the cast pistons and hope for 9.2 to 1 compression.  I am leaning to the 440 just because its more bang for the buck to be honest.  I will pull the 440 in about 2 weeks and go from there.

here are some updated pics of progress:
