i dynoed my 500" motor today.re cap of the motor:

500"  4.380-4.150
13.1-1 cr
indy cnc sr,s flowed 367@.700"
comp solid roller 272/276@.050  .703"
t&d 1.7 rockers
differnt intakes

it did what i thought it should do.it liked 40* of timing.
with the indy 440-3 with a 1050 dominator: 710 hp @6700   652 tq @5500
mopar 337 with a 1000 cfm 4150: 692 hp @6500  640 tq @5200
indy 440-2d dualplane with 1000cfm 4150: 677 hp @6700   604tq @ 5300

the averages were:
337:  536 hp  569 tq
440-3: 541 hp  573 tq
440-2d:  533hp  572 tq

ran out of time today,so sunday i will be dynoing a 440-2 w/ 2" spacer to a 4500.i'll post the results when i have them. i will post the dyno sheets on monday.they look good with a nice broad torque curve. my thoughts:the mopar 337 manifold is a awesome piece.very close to the peak numbers, and will fit under a stock hood.makes it nice also to be able to use a 4150 carb, nice street manners.i guess the motor likes the short runners.i also had a 1/2" spacer under all the carbs.

all in all,it went well today.this motor should make an awesome street ride. next up,chassis dyno.going to see driveline loss.also see if there is any more left in it.my 580,i found 27 more horsepower on the chassis dyno,we'll see.

Congrats Brian, those are excellent numbers for a 500in street build  :2thumbs:

I'd like to see the 440-2 with the 1000cfm AED carb....then it just an apples to apples manifold shootout. The dominator is probably accounting for some of the power gains but it would be interesting to see how much  :scratchchin:

For a street motor the 337 or ICH DP would be my choice....better manners and sharper throttle response.  :yesnod:

UPDATE
i did the last dynoing this morning.i tried the indy 440-2 with a 2" spacer to a 4500 flange and 1050 dominator.it made the most horsepower but no more torque.i also tried,at rons request, the 440-2 with a 1000 cfm 4150.the power fell way off, torque fell off too.

440-2 w/ spacer                        716 hp @6700   645tq @5500
440-2 w/4150 and a 1/2" spacer  679 hp @6200  627tq @ 5500

the averages of those were w/2"spacer 543hp  577 tq
                                     w/4150       527hp 560 tq

the 440-2 with a 4150 did the worst. the 440-2 with 2" to dominator spacer did the best.neither will fit under a stock hood.
the 337 and indy dualplane did really well, and they both fit under a stock hood.the dualplane had the flattest curve.it also had about 80 ftlb more torque below 3000 rpm, than all the others. i will post the dyno sheets on monday.

Thanks Brian, that is excellent info ! Thanks for sharing  :2thumbs:

So to summarize;

(1) MP 337/1000 AED made :  692 hp @6500  640 tq @5200
(2) Indy 440-2/1000 AED made :  679 hp @6200  627tq @ 5500

Wow, that's 13hp & 13 ftlbs difference  :o I would have thought that it (440-2) would've pushed the HP peak up higher but it didn't....and it made less power !

The 440-2 did push the torque peak up 300rpm but it also made less torque.

It appears that your 500incher certainly didn't like the ICH single plane & the 337 is better everywhere in the powerband.  :icon_smile_big:

I would certainly call this dyno thrash a huge success....you know what works and what doesn't. I'm sure it's going to be a whole lotta fun in the car  :coolgleamA:

Ron

thank you ron,yes thats correct on the two singleplanes.i think the 440-3 being higher was due to the dominator.they always do make more power up top.all in all,i like the 337. next up,chassis dyno.i'll keep you guys posted.look for the dyno sheets on monday....

theese are for the indy 440-2 with a 2" spacer to a 1050 dominator and the 440-2 with a 1/2" spacer and 1000 cfm 4150.
the 440-2 w/ 2" spacer and dominator made the most power.the 440-2 with a 4150 carb made the least.
