My 318 has two belts on it.  Is there any way I can put something on the belt or pulley to test which one is causing the sqreeching noise?  It happens under heavy throttle - but not cruising, and if I'm in park and bring the throttle up slowly and then step on it it doesnt happen as much. i have power steering and I think one belt is just for that and the other is just for fan.

Take the easiest to remove off and let it rip.  :2thumbs:  (I was hoping it was your tires!)

does the blet squeek when the steering also !! if the blets are not loose , squirt a little WD40 on each one  at a time &   do a test !

I'll spray a little wd on the top belt and see what happens.  ANyone know what size/model belt that should be to replace it?  It doesn't have a/c - just a fan. thanks.

My belts were doing the same, tightened up and no problems after that.

To get rid of those squeaks you need to feed the mice more cheese.  :2thumbs:

73Charger

yeah - more cheese should do it.  either that or just stop trying to show off how great it sounds   ;)  since she doesn't really have a hemi under the hood but its nice that everyone thinks there is  :icon_smile_wink:  i'll try the wd40 thing.  I think I tried to tighten the belt before but it didn't help of course I dont have a belt stretcher device so I only did it by hand.  maybe its not tight enough. although if a belt has some paint on it - it probably wont matter how tight it is. I think it may have got some residue on it when I touched up surfaces under the hood once a few years back.

Next - get it out of the mud!

I had a horrible squel once, turned out to be one of them 318 Hemi Camaro's stuck under the k frame.   :smilielol:

Fan belts usually have numbers on them , or NAPA has a belt measuring device if you are not running stock belts.

If your fan / alt belt is squelling and a new tensioned belt dos not fix it ,check your fan clutch, might be siezed.

Mice can get very hungry....no doubt there.

Try this....keep your hands on the wheel and shifter. I think you'll find she stops squeeling. Women are sooooo touchy.

Seriously, mine did the same thing under the same circumstances. Turned out to be a lose PS belt.
Tighten all your belts up and let us know. Good luck.
