Some Chargers come with vinyl top. I personally don't care for them. It does look good on triple black Chargers but otherwise I don't like them. I like how the roof looks without vinyl. What's your guy's opinion, do 2nd gen Chargers look better with vinyl top or without one?

I think it has to do what with what colour you have. A sublime Charger without a black top breaking the green of would be too much according to my opinion. Other colours looks great without.

I really like the look of the second gens with a vinyl top. It just seems to really accent the body lines in my opinion.

Well.....to me, it depends on color and preference.  Some look awesome with it, and others look better without it.  I do, however, think that they ALL should have the chrome trim though to give the car a bit of separation. It's hard for me to vote on this one because I'd have to choose both, depending on the color, rims, interior, etc.....especially the R/T cars with the stripe.  That's a factor in itself.....should the vinyl match the stripe or not?....Brings up a lot of "sub-questions" in this category.  I have to abstain from voting on this one.

I actually like roof body line so I think if I remove vinyl top I definitely will shave off the trim.

I geuss I would have to agree on the triple black theory  :icon_smile_big:.IMO I would prefer a vinyl top on all color 2nd gen Chargers, with the exception of red no vinyl, and orange no vinyl.

If the fender tag didn't call for it I probably wouldn't put one on and decide on the paint.

If it did call for it, it would have to be a nice looking combo.

I like trying to use the fender tag as a template and going from there.

Both of my Chargers ('68 & '69) came with a vinyl top from the factory and both will be naked for the rest of their lives.
I think they look better without the vinyl top and there will be no more rust and rot issues. :Twocents:
These are some pics of cars that did have vinyl tops...

Exactly was my point, besides vinyl belongs on Lincolns and Cadillacs.

My Duster came with a black vinyl top and it had some bubbling issues on the sail panel seams when I bought it. My Charger came without a vinyl from the factory and I'm glad because my roof is mint :) I voted on my personal opinion for my Charger. My Charger isn't getting one.

I don't know if this has been answered before but...  If a car came with a vinyl top will the stainless trim fit if a vinyl top is not reinstalled?  Does the stainless become to wide? :shruggy:  I like the look of no vinyl top with the trim to break up the roof line.

I say it depends on the car. Like Pers car which is simply amazing!

Totaly depends on the color and build style of the car.

I generally like them with a vinyl top though

I say vinyl top, it dresses it up, like a muscle car in a tuxedo. When people see my car they always comment on the top and how good it looks. You don't see vinyl tops any more.  :2thumbs:

Mine had a white vinyl top when I originally got it. I wanted to paint the car black and there were dents on the roof. Once I took it off I saw how rusty it was under the edges and around the windows. So, I opted to go custom and the wing, 6-pack hood, etc. with vinyl just didn't seem to go together for my taste. So I never replaced it.

I traded my mint check marks for some mint drip rail and grill chrome pieces, I had to fight with the back window trim a bit but the rest of the trim fit just fine. Had the car been an R/T or something rare, I would have gone OEM but it all depends on what you do with the car in my opinion.

There is no vinyl on a race car and if that's the look your going for then I'd say no. If going for OEM then go with the build sheet. (that includes color)
