Danville IL isn't that much a drive from here. Hmmmm, maybe I should take a trip over and snoop around.

We'll as the late Paul Harvey would say, Here is the rest of the story! Or at least some of it. Back in the early eighties I got transferred to Danville, Illinois for work. It was at this time that I had just bought my Daytonas. I spent some time in the parts department at KOHN Dodge in Danville to see what parts might be around that dealer.
The guys there informed me that they had sold 1 Dodge Charger Daytona new! I got the owners information and one day took some pictures of my Daytonas and went for a visit. The owners name was Berlin Tuggle and he lived nearby in Tilton, Illinois! We struck up a nice friendship and he showed me his Daytona and told me all about it! I took a club info sheet with me and here is the info I have on that car: vin XX29L9B409054
R6 RED, white wing, red interior, manual drum brakes, console, buckets, 440 engine, 14" rallye wheels, auto transmission, power steering, light package. This car had 65,000 miles on it back then! Berlin loved the car and loved to drive it. I would say that Berlin was in his fourties when he bought the car! The reason for the heart shaped drilling in the nose was for the car running hot!!! That is why this was done! Berlins son was next in line for the Daytona and I have attached a couple of pictures from the day of my visit! In the one picture you will see the back of a red 1968 Road Runner. That car belonged to his son. Since the restoration recently pictured shows the holes being left in the nose I hope the car is still in the Tuggle family!

                                              TUGGLE DAYTONA PART 2!
I left the Danville area and moved back to Indiana a few short years later. Berlin and I stayed in touch here and there. One day I get a call from him and his power steering gearbox has a leak he can't stop. I had an extra and he made the ride up to get it and visit! We had a great visit and again I took some pictures. I would say Berlin was in his eighties at this time! I'lll bet his son who was probably in his sixties was wondering if he would ever be able to take ownership of his dads Daytona! Sadly my last letter to Berlin in early 2009 to tell him that I was finally getting one of my Daytonas restored was returned as not deliverable? I had my daughter Michelle do some internet checking and she informed me that Berlin Tuggle had passed away back in 2004. So, I hope that it is his son that is the one that got that Daytona restored in Danville, Illinois!
I would be curious if the Daytona shipment list shows that car being delivered to KOHN Dodge in Danville?

Dave,
Sorry I havn't crossed paths with the Green Illinois Daytona! Don't forget my shipment list copies! The listing for the Tuggle Daytona reminded me.
Thanks!

Dave Kanofsky

Don't forget Scott Spirake's R4 red in and out 4 speed 440 powered car that might finish getting restored one day!

It's been sold out of the family.
