what to look for in an MP3 Player?

Ok, I just sent my radio out to Wards Classic Radio Repair last week for them to repair the AM radio and install the MP3 player adapter for my 69 Charger.  What I want to do is get an MP3 player that has a FM receiver in it so I can listen to AM/FM/MP3.  Is there anything in particular that I should look for?  The one that I am looking at currently is a Coby 4 GB MP3 Player with FM Radio (Red).  Is Coby a decent brand?  I am not looking to use this thing everday, just when I am out driving in the charger.

Thanks,

Brian

I can't really comment on the Coby brand since I have an 8 gig Ipod touch.  What I can tell you is that the more storage you have the better off you are, I filled up my 8 gig easily. I guesstimate that a 4 gig will hold between 500 and 1000 songs depending on the sound quality (better quality = less music).  I haven't had any problems with my Ipod but I do wish that I would have brought a larger capacity one.  The Itunes software is really easy to use, and is great for organizing your music.

And I'm willing to bet that once you start using your MP3 player you will eventually use it every day  :Twocents:

for the most part, I either listen to my FM stations or my cds in my truck going to and from work.

My kids swear by there darn IPod's! (they say MP3 is a pain)  :scratchchin: Don't think the FM would work well in a car. How much is Wards costing?

Something that's got an easy-to-use computer program and the ability to easily create and navigate playlists on. Not sure which one does that best but when you find it tell us which one it is.

I might have been misinformed but aren't you tied into using iTunes with and iPod?

Sandisk.

I love my Sandisk. It's AAA battery powered as well so that's an added benefit too. FM receiver too.

Never been a big fan of Ipods. Dislike the fact that I have to recharge it. Dislike having to be married to Itunes. Dislike that the battery will eventually die and not hold a charge and it is not accessible to the user for replacement so you either buy a new one or send it back to them. Not even sure you can return them. My son's lasted 3 years before it died.

Buy.com has refurb models for very cheap money.

i bought my kids mp3 players and found you could never find a battery in the house. they would even take the batteries out of things when we were out. so the cost of batteries was too much for me. I have since gotten everyone ipod minis. I bought them all broke and used the internet to learn how to fix them. They came in 4 and 6 gb mechanical drives. I have chipped a few with 16 gb electronic drives. Rechargable and easy to use. just replace the battery every 2 years. I will one day chip one with a 32 gb chip.

Sorta you need itunes to sync the ipod and put tunes on the ipod but you do not need to buy any music from itunes you can use your tunes.

My MP3 player charges up using my computer (like a flash drive? is that what they call it?)
I would never buy a MP3 player that uses regular batteries. I also am not a fan of Ipods.  :Twocents

To fix the AM radio - $100.  To add the MP3 player - $79.  Shipping is $15.
