Something going down at The Paddok

I got a text from a buddy at the Paddok today. Employees showed up for work this morning and the parking lot had police and lawyers present. The store was locked and the employees were told "we are going to work hard to get you your final paychecks". Anyone know what is going on? The employees sure don't.

If you have orders pending, you may want to check into it.

I think it's more like... "We are going to work hard to GET your final paychecks" ... after all, you wouldn't want them ending up in the hands of the employees.

Hmmm. I have a '64-'78 Mustang catalog beside me here I got from them last week? I wonder what's going on :popcrn:

I found there Office property on a commercial property site. They are the second one from the bottom. It says "Office Space". Not sure if it means they are for sale or the property recently sold. :shruggy:

I don't believe The Paddock *manufactures* anything - they are a reseller. Therefore I doubt there's any copyright/trademark issues with Chrysler like Laysons.

I had heard a several months ago that they were really letting inventory get extremely low which leads me to believe they're hurting for cash (and who isn't?). Maybe if their prices were lower they'd sell more stuff but that's a different issue.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

That is absolutely true. They were not stocking stuff they usually kept on hand, like carpet and package trays. They also began revising old policy's. Like I wanted an AMD windshield. In the past I could order one in the showroom and if not in stock, I would not pay shipping. They began charging for shipping like you were ordering over the phone.

I just did the "reasonable thing" I called. They are open for business.  Prices still suck though.

I left a message for him to call me. I will let you know what he says about it. It is possible, with that real estate listing shown above and the reduction of inventory that they are downsizing and becoming just another company that does drop ship sales.

I agree.  Their prices are outrageous.  I will not be losing sleep over the Paddock closing their doors, if this is the case.

For what?  Ripping us off on shipping prices?  When I had a $300 order with them, I got a box that weighed 8 lbs and they charged me over $30 for shipping.  When I blew up at them for the shipping price, they said they do not charge by weight but by what your total dollar order is and they figure shipping off of that so if you have a NOS lens that you buy from them for big bucks, expect to get raped with shipping charges.

Ya, I bet they got up every morning and said "how can we F%$C the guys that put bread on our table today".  The expenses involved with running a legitmate business are outragouse.  Weather it's shipping, or the price of the product, they gotta charge what's going to keep them in business or what's the use?  It's the low cost provider in any market that is, more often than not, out of business - they're just to dumb to figure it out.

I think Mike DC got it right :Twocents:

I thought that antiquated shipping model disappeared long ago. There's no excuse for it, especially with the post office offering low flat rate shipping. Charge the customer legitimate shipping. Maybe add a buck or two, but to charge someone shipping based on value, is ridiculous. It's like buying a car based on gas mileage. Big SUV would cost next to nothing, while a Smart Car would be $80k - lol

Brock Lee

Looks like there is still a problem regardless of what they said on the phone.
