I am thinking about upgrading my current heads, to Indy S/R's i want to use the same M1 intake and 950 hp I have now. Anybody run Indy s/r on a low deck without a hood scoop? It will be close and I need to go play with some kids play-doh on my air cleaner and figure it out. Just thought I'd ask .

with the low block, you have a real good chance that it will fit good. i use sr,s on my motors, with indys dualplane and mopars 337,and they are on rb blocks.they fit good.

I ran Indy SR Heads on a Low Deck 383 and used a Weind TEAM G intake with a Holley 3310. 750...  I had a K$N drop base air cleaner and it all fit under the hood of my 68 Charger..

Good to go!

I have an M1 but I would switch to an Eddy RPM if it fits. Anybody know how much shorter an RPM is vs an M1??

Joshs68

a Team G should be close to my M1, thanks

did you use the Indy valley pan or the Mopar pan?

if you choose a dualplane, the indy is the best out there.it is even good for bigger motors,500".i make 700 horsepower with them on my 500" motor.if i was buying a new dualplane, this would be the one. :yesnod:
also the indy manifold will fit under the hood,no problem.

i would use the indy 2 piece plate,or you could have a plate welded on your m-1.i had that set up for awhile,it worked good.

I would love to use the Indy dual plane, they dont make it for a B engine only the RB. I could use it with stage VI heads. I did some checking with play-doh and I have 1" of clearance now, I also have a 1" drop in my air cleaner and a 3" element. It would fit , but it would fit better with another air cleaner with more drop and maybe a smaller filter.

The intake ports on the SR's are raised but you should still be able to clear the stock hood if you currently have 1in clearance. There is a 1.25in drop base available should you need it.

The Performer RPM is no taller than the M1 single plane and it might be slightly shorted from what i've seen comparing the two side by side.

Josh is this for your 470 low deck build ? You do realize that static compression will increase with the smaller SR combustion chamber.  ;)

Here is a picture of my Indy head B Block with the Torker intake on it. I later swapped it to the TEam G. I used the 1.25" Drop base Air cleaner from K&N and the whole thing fit perfect under my hood of the 68 Charger.

Ron

Ron it is for my 470,
I am happy with my build, and I am making just over 400hp at the tires, with a little timing booboo( in a good direction). If I could have changed one thing in my build I would have used better heads. I already spent the money on a rotating assembly and machine work so its all sitting there waiting.  The smaller chambers on the Indy heads should put me at 11.2/1 or if I use a thicker gasket I can keep it around 10.75/1. I will probably just go with the higher compression, its not a daily driver and I dont mind mixing some 110 with my 93 octane. I like that for $2500 I can get a set of bowl ported S/R's with the kit, ie valley plate bolts etc . I can run them this way with really good flow #'s for this build and I will always be able to go bigger with them for a higher hp build. I will use the Edelbrock RPM if needed but think I can fit it with maybe just an air cleaner/filter swap.

My timing booboo, My balancer (factory) spun and I reset the timing without thinking "why am I doing this". The balancer spun about 10* and I turned the distributor to put it back to read 35* giving me around 25* I bought a new one and will put it on soon.

Oh, man  super sorry to hear about your engine. I understand the financial effort it takes to make these things happen. I am using the Harland Sharps and hope for the best. I bought the same balancer as you have there and havent put it on yet. What did you think of it?

redmist

It made a cool "Rattle" noise when shuting the car down...

Other then that, works fine! I am using it on my 440 build as well.
