Zinc! Before/After pics of a bunch of fasteners I had restored

I don't have time to screw with this crap myself. Or better said, I'm not going to take the time to mess with it. Fortunately I know a guy who deals with businesses that do powder coating, sand blasting, plating, etc. Anyway, this was the first time I had anything plated and for the most part the stuff turned out pretty good. There were a few items that were too far gone to take the plating but probably 98% of the stuff turned out looking new. What I had done to these is clear zinc plating and they also do a black zinc (flat) and gold zinc.

The first two pics below are before/after of the bumper mounting bolts and the second two are the LCA adjusting screws.

2 questions....

1. Does this place let you ship to them to have the bolts replated.

and

2. (If you don't mind) What kind of price are we talking for the work you had done? (Just a round about figure would be fine...)

They came out nice and bright, sometimes they are dull,
On a negative you have to be carefull about plating  fasteners like K frame bolts and the LCA adjusters  as you get hydrogen   embrittlement with electroplating  which can make the fastener break.

A lot of that stuff was originally Zinc Phosphate - Hard to find a place that does it decently or at all with environmental concerns. Bull - Do your guys do Zinc Phosphate?

I would assume they accept shipments. I could ask the next time I talk to the guy but he's a go-between so the info might be a bit slow getting back. Assuming you're not in BF Egypt there shouldn't be a problem though. The total cost I paid of all you see on the table was $57. The only thing is I kind of have an "in" with this guy because he does a lot of work for the company I'm employed with. One way he extends his thank yous for this is by giving the employees deals on stuff like this. And in some cases, depending on the work, the cost is a wash whether I go through this guy or someone else.

Some of them, probably 4-6 of the bolts, did turn out dull-looking. I hope they aren't in danger of breaking. I hadn't heard anything about that and no one said anything when I took them in...

Silver Cad can come out milky dull if the platers tanks aren't fresh. I have had good luck with silver (clear) zinc. Never heard about hydrogen embrittlement before. I have plated 1000's of fasteners over the years with no problems....maybe I'm just lucky? I do know acid dipping and spring steel is a very bad combo!

Max - I was told by my guy that the place does do zinc phosphate plating.

68r/t - This particular zinc plating process was not done electrically, ie. electroplating.

So how durable is zinc phosphate plating compared to regular zinc?
