Anyone remember a thread detailing a vinyl top install? I did a search on it and haven't found it yet, eyes are getting goofy from looking. Too many pages,67. Thanks

P.S. Could use something like this for a headliner too.

A little tip..... use alot of glue but make sure you spray it on even. My top came out fantastic but I guess I didnt use enough glue and it is now lifting in a few areas. I am not looking forward to taking everything back apart to redo it :(

I was just asking that same question about the glue when I was at the paint store the other day. I'm doing the top on my 73... after some minor rust repair.

oh right ! not sure how many cans you will need for a third generation ! best to buy too many !  & take back what you don't use !  , 6 or 7 cans are for a second generation , but you could get away with prolly 5 , just i used that amount  , because once the can goes less than half full it wont spray very well horizontal ! ok vertical !  :yesnod:  just shake the can well & follow the instructions .

Don't skimp on that glue!
I double-coated at least both mating surfaces. Sprayed an even pattern one way, then doubled it in the opposite direction. Did the roof and the vinyl, & let them tack before stretching out the vinyl on the body.
It was about $20 bucks a can, so it does add up. As long as you have patience, measure carefully, and have a helper on board, it should be no problem.
Glad to hear you found the write-up useful, and good luck with that top!!  :2thumbs:

I think I used 3 cans, I got worried because when I was spraying the glue I thought it was seeping threw the vinyl so I stoped, but in reality it was condensation or something along those lines and was no big deal.

Also I was talking to 1hot68 about installing tops and he told me to do the center section up to the seam, then stop. Let it dry over night and then do the rest. He said its much easier that way.
