For those that do ebay sales, should you say the reserve price??

I didn't know which forum to ask this question in but I just put my Charger up last night and already gotten a few questions about the reserve.

Do you answer and let them know what it is? or be more coy about it and say if they're close, or make them guess?

any help is appreciated, I've sold tons of things on ebay but never a car!!

theres always people looking for bargains (including me) and tire kickers trying to see what their car MIGHT bring.  i wouldn't tell them, that way they have to keep track of the auction if they are really interested and not "just checking pricing".  you can always send them a "second chance offer" if it doesn't meet your reserve and your willing to lower it for them

no don't tell them.... because you want your auction to run as high as it can....
also people will put a realllly high bid in... just to see where your reserve is.. then they will ask you to retract it and say it was a mistake!! they play games!!! assssssholes!!! lol
goood luck!!!

I don't use a reserve price. I just put the minimum I will take and go from there. You don,t have to deal with the tire kickers as much :brickwall:

Nacho-RT74

if you say the reserve price... WHAT WOULD IT BE THE DEAL FOR ? wouldn't have any logical sense to set a reserve price, better set an initial bid.

As a seller I'd like the reserve price option ( never have been a seller, but if I was to be one ). As a buyer, the reserve price could me stop to bid initially, but If i really need or want the item, sure I will bid on it. Mostly sure being reserved initially on bid, but going up step by step to guess the reserve price.

The old reserve price status did set the price on the bare minimum just to pass the reserve no matter your max offer. That was converting the reserve price like it was another bidder. Now is more interesting because sets the price on the complete offer you made, no matter if passed by long the reserve price. But HEY that's the bidder own about how much he thinks it worths or how badly needs it. He couldn't acusse to seller about that.

... wait... are you selling the 69 ? or the old 73/74 you had ( still on hands )?

thanks for the tips guys!

nacho-yeah I'm selling the '69, I found another '69 nearby that is ideal for me and one I can put my baby girl in the back and she won't go deaf haha.

and I sold my '73 to get the '69 I'm selling now. One day I hope to get another '73/'74 car, I think those are the perfect 3rd gen bodies and they ride great, I would just modify the grille to a 71-72 hidden headlight one.

oh crap I forgot to reply to that thread with the final matter on it.

Anyway-selling the car because my plan of upgrading bit by bit here and there just isn't going to work out if we're going to save for our own place in a year or two. However, I'm getting another '69-just one that is complete, air conditioned and my child can ride in. She has no problem with that whatsoever.

So while I'd love to have enough money to keep it and not have to worry about it AND get another car, just isn't going to work out right now.

but I still get to have a Mopar muscle car and a '69 Charger, so I'm happy!

I will NOT bid on anything of value without knowing the reserve price. I'll always email them when it's not listed and if they say they won't tell me the reserve price, I go on to the next item.  I'm not gonna waste my time watching and bidding on a car that I think might be worth 5k on when someone is wanting 15k as a reserve. I always tell my reserve prices.

Now, If they tell me they have a reserve of 15k and I think it's worth 12, I'll bid my highest hoping that I'll get a second chance offer... but it's at least got to be within reason.

HITMAN 149

well that's the point of a auction... the seller sets his minimum price he wants for it (reserve) and then the bidders bid away... but you know what your willing to pay for it... and if you get out bid... so be it.
i mean why should i tell anybody what my reserve is?!?!? do you show your hand at a poker game?!?!? lol

well thats on your own... if you think worths $5K, offers that and doesn't get the reserve, well will mean anyway won't be your. If seller set the initial price at $15K instead a reserve you wouldn't try to offer anyway, so either way won't be something you'll get.

same case if you think 12K and doesn't meet the reserve. Once auction ends you still can get the second chance offer that won't get on a Starting price of $15K because you was never to offer over the $12K you think it worths.

maybe you still can get the second offer with the $5K you initally though LOL, no matter if reserve was at $15K. Or if winner never paid!

unless the starting price was $15K and got the MAKE AN OFFER option.

But every step seller add or choose will be converted more or less fees to build the auction.

I thought people were assnine when it came to star wars figures and other items I've sold on ebay but DAMN if listing this car hasn't brought them out in full force.

I thought people didn't bother to read my auctions before but this is a whole 'nother level.

That plus people knocking on the car or any defect it may or may not have due to it's age and condition...it's like, if you don't dig it, nobody's forcing you to bid on it, jackass. don't question my choice of black for the car, ppg satin black looks badass, period.

It's not a poker game that we're playing. I never could understand why a reserve price should be such a big secret. I list the reserver price right in the auction. You want it for that, Bid it or bring cash and come get it. I've sold items by telling my reserve price. Could I have got more by letting the auction run? Maybe but as long as I get my minimum I'll take it and move on to the next one.

I'm a Nichole fan myself,   :naughty: too bad she smokes..  :shruggy:

I'm hoping to see her sometime this week and take a few pics of her with the Charger. if that doesn't happen, with the new one for sure. She's a great person all around, very funny and sharp...and a nurse now, so she's quit smoking. Wouldn't mind her having her as a nurse if I ever was in the hospital.
