I'm curious about what the forum's concensus is. Do more choose a 2 stage paint job or single stage? What are the pluses/ minuses of each? Your opinions are valued......even Brocks! hahaha. Thanks.

In days I will be shooting my 69 with SS gloss black. Cheaper (maybe $500)... probably last almost as long (maybe 10-15 yrs?) I've cut and buffed it with good test results. I would imagine the base/clear you could cut it more and make it that super glossy wet look. Depends on color, budget, etc. I have heard SS black is crisper? less "brown"... :shruggy:

I always go with single stage Acrylic Enamel like Ma Mopar used....but I'm crazy!  :yesnod:

Silver R/T

You can always put clear coat over single stage paint, for that deep wet look after its cut and buffed. Base clear is more popular with today's paints as most of them are metallic and you want protection over metallic base, which clear gives to it.

i was thinking along them lines !   as to me modern 2pac paints single stage & base & clear look too false to me !! not  oldy enough , makes the car look plastic !! although the modern paint jobs look awesome !!  but not for me !  !   :scratchchin:  modern paint , for modern cars  :yesnod: :Twocents: :scratchchin: :shruggy:
i  done a compromise ,  i  painted mine single stage 2pac ,&  never color sanded it , just denibed a couple of specks of dirt & a quick mop , looks a bit too shiney under artifical light , but once out in daylight , looks  not too new looking if you know what i mean   :yesnod: ,  think it looks more original  !!   :scratchchin:   to me any way !

I know alot of guys I know, say for the 'blackest' paint job you do need to use a SS Urethane on a Black car.

If it's a metallic color, I definately would use Basecoat/Clearcoat.

I'll be clearing over single stage enamel but I'm  going to do it after the final color coat flashes. It worked great on my buddy's Valiant.....Hopefully I will get the same results
