much thanks to Aero426, I just bought a Dodge D-700 car hauler.  This rig was given to Cotton Owens by Chrysler as a cab with frame rails and he built the car hauler.  He later sold the truck to Neal Castle, and I just bought it from Neal.  I just wonder what cars have been loaded on that rig?  Did any Nascar winners sit on that truck?  I plan to drive it from North Carolina To St. Louis.  Mr. castle said he would drive the truck anywere.  After getting it home I will detail it, load one of the cars and store it in the out building at the Mopad.  I will load the Daytona clone and go to shows, displaying both vehicles with pride.  A real Daytona hauler, with a real nice daytona clone on it.  My wife went to visit her sisster in Kentucky, so she doesn't know I bought this yet.  that will teach her to go out of town and leave me alone :slap:

Congrats...
Howie was drooling over that truck but he already has a couple of nice old Dodge trucks. He must have mentioned that truck a dozen times in the last couple of weeks. He bought a real nice 80 Dodge crewcab dually a while back. I haven't been able to talk him out of that one... yet.  ;D

Congratulations, Allen !

I REALLY wanted that truck !

But....I would have had to build a big shed to keep it in.

Can't let that piece of history sit outside !

I'm glad it got a good home !

Looking forward to seeing it at Monster Mopar  :2thumbs:

I want to see a drag race of the haulers carrying Daytonas down the drag strip...

Thanks, guys I am pretty pumped about it!  I hope some one on here could put me in touch with with Cotton?  I would love to gather any info maybe even a photo with one of his wing cars sitting on top of the thing.  I think it will be neat piece of history :Twocents: I will collect what ever info Mr. Castle has on the truck when I pick it up.  Just wonder if Cotton had any advertising on the truck or if it was just black.  I would like to return it to how it looked when it was used to transport race cars.  As for Geno's Daytona, I dont think it will be riding on top the old Dodge truck any time soon.  I'm pretty sure he has a nice cozy enclosed set up for that jewel :yesnod:

Most likely a splitter.

Congrats Allen.  That's a way cool time piece.  :2thumbs:

Neat truck congrats on the purchase

Just some confused thoughts so a couple of questions

What year did Cotton stop having a nascar cup race team?

And isn't the truck a 1977?

So a Daytona would not have been racing then right?

Or was this a rebody type thing to a newer truck from an old hauler......I am not near my newsletter to remember the details
