Pulled apart and cleaned the tail light units from my '68; the cast metal part of the housing that is painted black definately needs a repaint before I reassemble the unit.
Should the housing be painted a semi gloss black, or a flat black? It's hard to tell from my old units.

I believe that all the "black" on the rear of the car, from the tail panel to the round ring on the outside of the red tail lamps were flat (low gloss) black. No glossy back there. And only the St. Louis plants used black low gloss enamel on the tail panels, whilst the Hamtramck plant used organosol
