Howdy Folks!

Can anyone "guess" or "Know" who has built the "Death Proof" moviecars.
I have tryed "Austin Speedshop", but no, and they didnt know.

Death1970Proof

I have talked to the shop and recieved many emails with detailed pics of one of the film cars. I have the name of the shop somewhere. The film used 68-70's. If they were not 69's they were made to appear as such. I will see what I can dig up...
"Remember when I said this car was death proof? Well that wasnt' a lie-this car is 100%death proof- only to get the benefit of it honey you really need to be sitting in my seat"...

Howdy Folks!

Thanks "Death1970Proof" and RD.

I have been in contact with "Buddy Joe Hooker", the Legend, that was the driver in the movie.

He said that the car was built by a local dragracer in Austin. Which,  He didn't now.

I hope for more info from him.

I assume you're aware that "the car" was about a dozen copies.  There were multiple copies of each stunt car being driven hard throughout the shoot.  Some had specialized jobs and others were just general purpose drivers.

There where, according to Buddy Joe, 4 of these Chargers, for the carchase. Two of them with rollcages for the canon.
And two others. Mine is mar kt #1 Stunt under the hood, and some other places.
He said he now what car i have, and its looks like a "pretzel" , because he was in it when it became a "pretzel".

So my car, maybee the only one with engine, or two, that  actually was driven in the movie.

My car has a cage that goes from front under bumper to the rear. I can go Thru a cementwall, easily.

I got a pic from one on the forum, that shows the left side , just before its hit the dich, that's my car, its like a fingerprint.

Yeah, I remember that thread.  It was your car in those pics allright.

Cool that you've talked to Buddy Joe.  So much car chase history in that guy.

So they had two cars rollcaged for the cannon shot?  Surprising.  I woulda thought just the one.  The roll went perfectly.  Timed so well with that hit from the Challenger.

Yea, Buddy Joe is a living legend, and try "Hooper" from the 70 and "Gone in 60 sec" for starter.  In a Movie You never notice the stuntman....just the moviestar.
He risk his life to make a good movie. So after a movie, stay and read the aftertext, they are worth it.

When I show this car on local shows, I am gonna promote his name on the car.

All this yakking and no pics. Shame, shame. :nono:
