I bought this K frame today because the seller said it came from a '69 Charger.

When i got it home and compared it with the K frame on my '69 Charger R/T i noticed that this one doesn't have the "tabs" on the lower control arms to bolt the front sway bar on to.
Any idea what car it came from?

Thanks in advance, Lennard

SOME charger were optioned without a front swaybar so it is remotely possible to be a charger K member -  but unlikely - more likely is it came off of something like a satellite or belvedere ---  no big deal either way - they all use the same crap.    :2thumbs:
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

Thank you for the info R/T

The 1970 Chargers had a different swaybar setup than the earlier ones.  (It matched the E-body setups.)  Check that before you write it off as a factory non-swaybar setup.

I think there was also some kind of optional "extra soft ride" deal in 1970 that deleted the swaybar.  It sounds to me like a creative way for the engineers to get people to view going without something as a bonus.

No swaybar tabs on the LCA's (if they are original to that k-frame) mean the assembly you bought never had a sway bar. It still could have come out of a non R/T Charger.

Front swaybars were standard equipment on 2nd-gens unless it was purposely deleted in some way, R/T or not.  Other B-bodies did not always have them.

I would say yes.As the charger had the heavy duty susp as standard equip.68-69 anyway.I'm thinking the reduced rate stuff appeared in '70.
There's a few 6 cyl owners on here, what's the answer guys?

I don't know the situation with the slant-6 Chargers to be honest.  The 318 V8 was the standard motor at the car's base price, the slant-6 was a no-cost option which was rarely chosen.

The standard 318s got front swaybars.  The 318 cars got torsion bars with 0.90" thickness, whereas the standard base model torsion bars were 0.88" thickness on other B-bodies.  Chargers were treated as an up-model car line from the Coronets even without much optional equipment being ordered.

mine was originally a 318... i still have the original sway bar and torsion bars installed..

do i need to upgrade to newer ones? or just "refresh" with some polyurethane bushings... or bigger torsion bars... .90, that should be good for a firm ride right? i have a 440 now...(not installed).
