Ok, My chromed mopar box went bad. I maybe could have the chance to buy a NEW unit still on blister/package but OLD production ( old package and stampings, so NOS )

would you get one of those OR a newer unit from Summit or whatever dealer.

I know about all the problems the MOPAR boxes have got but as far I know, they have been more related with orange units, not the chromed ones. And I have known the problems with them has been more with newer units than the old units

what do you think ?

well FBO would be a good option if they were being sold just the ECU, not just the complete kit.

aftermarket performance units ?

well is more than double I was expecting to spend... I HOPE WILL BE FINE! that is cutting me another stuff I was needing

One thing is true, we talked about the spark quality. I allways have got a yellow spark coming from coil with the MSD blaster 2 coil and chromed MP ECU box EVEN WITH THE 0.8 MSD BALLAST! he guarateed me a blue spark.

Natcho, check the resistance on your plug wires if you're still getting a weak spark. The ignition system is only as good as it's weakest link.  ;)

Yeah I know about the wires Ron, you told me about that, but I'm talking about the coil wire unplugged from dist... too short to even with a standart wire resistance not get a better spark... specially if you jump from 15K volts coil to a 45K volts coil.

If it was just for that I can't ever imagine how I was to get a spark with the stock coil.

However I'm still thinking on get the Firecore wires... are they still 8mms or do they changed to 8.5 mm ? I think Don told me they are now 8.5 mm

The Firecores are available in both sizes ; the 8.5mm are for headers (135* boots) and have the Firecore script on the plug wires. The 8mm are plain and are designed for stock manifolds (90* plug boots)

Ron

Ps.  Here's a pic of the factory fit 8mm wires on a big block with manifolds

Thanks....that was my "race day" setup with the Firecore wires.

I think now with the big honkin A/C compressor in the way you wont get to see my "correct" repro wires anymore, I just might make every day "race day"  ;)
