In about 3.5h I will doing my exams to become a brown belt in Chinese boxing/Shaolin Kempo/temple boxing.
In our fighting system a brown belt equals a black belt in karate to have an idea.
Since the other 3 candidates didn't have enough practice hours I will be the only one being crunched tonight.

I will be kicking, punching, throwing, strangling, fighting like a beast  :eek2: :yesnod:  :icon_smile_big:

Wish me luck guys!
CB

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested.

Very cool... I got my Black belt in Kempo back in 1992. It was one of the best things I ever did.

BRUTAL!!!!

Since I was the only one to attend this exam, the two masters abused (kinda) me for 2.5h.
I got a good stamina and have some muscles to help but man they tore me down!!

Today I reached one of my goals in life  not only fysically but sure mentaly too  :yesnod:

Now one proud owner of a brown belt W00T!  :woohoo: :punkrocka:

Oh BTW now my time can go back to where I left off, rebuilding the damn front end and get 'er on the road!!

Yes Chuck, I sweat blood and tears for this, my knuckles proof it ;)

Pics follow, battery is dead

Congratulations.  Can't you just beat the front end back in place now.  Kung fu that mofo, CB style!! :icon_smile_big:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Here are some of the pics some guy from the club shooted.
No spectacular moves/kicks but you will notice that I better went for snooker or darts instead of hours of torture... :icon_smile_big:

 That I can see... Those mental hurdles can sometimes be the toughest.. Maybe that's why they are put in place, I'm not sure... I remember, during testing, thinking "This has to be over soon!" because I felt like I'd drop... Then, 400 kicks, 300 push ups, 275 punches later you'd hear "You're doing great!".

Do you compete in any tournaments? How long have you been training?

CB

Well, we don't do many tournaments yet since the club had a little set back. Some of the higher belts/experianced guys got babies, house, new job etc. Lots of starters now so I had to put more time in assist then go for some kumite matches.

I've been training for +4 years now. Last two years with one of the 2 teachers you've seen in the pics. (the one with more hair  ) He's a police detective here in my town. Great guy but he's tuff...
He has +25 years in martial arts (Wing Tsun, pencak silat, Kempo...) and know how to use it in critical situations.
