I had one...

then it became a Big Block car :) sorry ;)

I'm a believer that a stroked small block is a great motor, but not for a B-body. Big Body, Big Motor ;)

I have a 318 in mine currently, I have the 360 block so I may do a 408, or I'm going with a 440.

Manfred318

Mines a small block. Its comming out this spring for a rebuild. I had a 440 I was going to put in but sold it and decided to keep the orig. motor and trans.

My '74 was a SB 318 but I upgraded to a 340.  The '67 is still a 318.  Must be one of the few owners that prefers the SB's.

ran mine with a souped up 318 from '84 till '99 when i finally collected all the hi po BB stuff and put the 446 in... it was no slouch to 35 MPH... the six-pack block - conciderably breathed on is no slouch to 110.
I wont drive it any faster then that, too floaty.  :rotz:

My '69 came original with a 318-2bbl...........now it's a 383-4bbl :icon_smile_wink:

Yeah , 318 over here , due east from you  :icon_smile_big:, stock at the moment- just enjoy driving it over the summer. A mate of mine took me for a blast in his 72 RR with an Indy EFI Hemi605 900hp, so guess what I would like to do  :yesnod:, but requires buckets of fun coupons ... there was a thread that directed me to this site a while back bout a guy that did a 318 - 408? stroker , have a look through
another mate of mine is doing a VH Hardtop with a stroked 360 - 426 combo by Hughes engines.com .supposed to make 561 hp, and it will still stop and steer like a smallblock, will be a weapon and a half

cheers

late edit ;

 according to brochures circa 1968...
same figure they gave for the Chrysler 300 Ram motors in the early '60s..  :shruggy:
I wonder what it actually was?   :scratchchin:
Don't forget the listed the 426 HEMI at 425. What ever happened to the one H.P Per Cubic inch benchmark?..

I have a 318 in mine but putting a 400 in.

Ehh..depends...

It would cost me considerably more to go to big block because I always run across small block parts on really good deals. The small blocks are lighter weight which I do like because it makes for a better handling car. I know how to make them run. I do have major respect for a 383/440, but the sleeper factor of building a stroker small block is great. They will believe you when you say 'It's just a lil' 318  :hah: I guess I like small block b bodies because they just really are not done??  :coolgleamA:

On ebay you can get a 360 stroker crank for $279.95  :o ...Get the stroker pistons, balance it and then let it rip  :musik010:

68-70' 440 Magnums are known to have 375 rated horsepower from the factory. Hp,torque and compression ratios drop heavily from 72-78; But hey it's a 440! You can mod it just like any other mopar engine  :icon_smile_big:

see, thats where i was, I had a 360 done up real nice in my charger, but after awhile I just didn't think that the money I put into it was worth it. after I did the math. pound for pound and inch for inch, i figured Icould get more from teh 440 then the 360 stroked for less money.

now in a A body, small block all the way, but with the weight and size of the B-Bodys, thats why I went for my 440 :)

I think I have a pic of the small block in my Charger...
