What was the most clever "rules interpretation" you ever pulled off?

What is the greatest rule bending you ever pulled off? (assuming you want to share it :icon_smile_wink:)
The closest I've come to anything "clever" was when a buddy and I had a dirt track car at a local Saturday night roundy round league.  It wasn't any sort of great discovery just an oversight they had in their rules.  Basically it amounted to them stating that an engine had to have a stock crank but not that it had to be "THE" stock crank which meant we got away with running a stroker... for a very short time.
I'm thinking some of you must have better stories than this though.  :yesnod:

Along those same lines, I did see a guy at Carlisle selling a "Stroker crank" for a Big Block Chrysler engine...I looked at it, pulled out the mic and said "I think this is a stock 440 Steel Crank?!"

Dude said, "I know, it's a stroker if you put it in a 400"...
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

You mean "Drag" or "roundy-round" ?
You mean like drilling base gaskets on "limited" Carb Rule Tracks to "leak" more Air ?
Gotta be careful on the main jet metering system in the carb to "compensate", and very tough to keep running down low,
but,
That "wee-40" Won alot Races until they figured that out, and started "spraying" wd40 around the Carb base in Tech Inspection.

Or,
Titanium Valves(reduced Weight) on a "limited" Valve Spring Class to outrun the Bowties down the straight-aways ?
Gave the Cheb Guys "Fits" !
Then, after enough complaints, the Tech Guys started pulling out magnets during Inspection. The "lash Caps" only hid the trick for so long.

I could go on forever, those are just a few from the 80's
Back then the Tech Guys were "Mopar Challenged", full of comments like "HUH" ? , "WAZZAT" ?, "I THINK SO" ? which offered us "opportunities" by itself ?
Only wimps wear Bowties !

A friend on mine used to grind the casting numbers off the back of a SBC and sculpt new ones in bondo to pass off a 327 as a 283. Heavy spray paint covered the evidence.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Either one, I ony kicked off with the dirt track one because all of my personal drag racing experience has been with bracket cars.  Class racing seems to bring out the creativity no matter what form of motorsport it is.

i worked pit for some guys who ran asphault modifieds. One season they banned rear spoilers, so the back panel we spring loaded, and the rear 1/4 "braces" we left them about 3" wide and ran more than one on each side. so once you hit about 40 mph, the back panel would open up and act as a rear spoiler. and when you slowed down, it closed again. That lasted about 9 races.

There are MANY others, and lets just say I am no longer allowed back at a certain track anymore due to said MANY others.

.................I liked offset grinding the crank..........increases stroke and compression.........another trick was using hyd lifters on a solid cam.........approx 20 degrees more duration..........................kim..............
