A fellow Dodge truck guy had a bunch of trucks ripped off out of the Kansas City area. Keep and eye out if you see some odd ball trucks either for sale or probably headed for a scrap yard. Heres a clip of his message..........

-----------------

I couldn't believe my eyes when I first looked at my outside lot where I keep, (kept) my secondary or too big trucks. Except for my 52 flatfender they were all gone when I went there today to check on the building. And we aren't talking Toyotas here but up to a 2 ton crew cab 4x4 with winch! Serious balls/risk/time and effort to get them out of there. I've been laid up with broken ribs so I haven't been there for a couple of weeks so I'm not exactly sure when it happened. I don't know what they are going to do with them but everyone please keep your eyes and ears pealed because eventually someone is going to be unloading a lot of rare trucks or parts.

Here is a list of what is was stolen.

1957 TownWagon 315, factory winch, bullet holes, light blue.
1957 W100 440, Stepside, auto, primer gray rusted.
1957 D500 cab chassis, OD rusted
1958 W100 315, Sweptline long wheelbase, orange.
1958 W500 315, cab chassis, 22.5 wheels green orange.
1966 D 200, Sweptline, 318, hubcaps, auto on dash, blue, wide side trim.
1969 W300 318LA, flatbed, white.
1970 D300, Crewcab, flatbed, chrome rollbar,auto, yellow.
1970 W500, Crewcab318LA, factory winch, factory flatbed, drk green white running boards.
1975 BMW 2002 lots of speed parts, rusty body, tan.

Because of people getting in them I had them all wrapped with cables and locks around the cabs and door handles.

Contact this guy if you see anything..

i hate to say it, but I'd probably start with the scrap yards. Not many people would steal stuff that big, or a rusty 75 bmw unless it was gonna turn into a dozen hondas. I hope he finds them.

I'll keep my eyes out for them in my area (other side of the state) since I-70 passes through nearby.  You never know where stuff can end up.  There was a local group of farm thieves that got caught with around $3-4 million worth of newer combines, trucks, implements, etc last year.  They had been taking stuff from three different states and then stashing them on various local farms (large storage barns, bins, etc).  They sold some of their stuff up in Canada, as that is where one of the guys was finally caught in the act.  Kinda funny as you would never expect to see a brand new pimped out black Escalade sitting in an empty grain bin on an abandoned farm (found by the county sheriff on a tip).......

i wonder if the city or county had them taken if they looked too bad, alot of municipalities have laws regarding vehicles on property, some in plain sight and others say they can come into your backyard if the neighbor complains

Message from the owner..................

I had called the biggest local scrap yard as soon as I got home after finding the trucks missing and told them to be on the look out.

They called today and said someone was bringing in old Dodges one by one to scrap.

Yep my trucks. I was on a job all day and didn't get down there until about 7. The police had already impounded all but a couple and those too were on the way with no stopping them. Something about being required to be in the impound lot for the case...but I could pay tomorrow to get them out. Yeah right, that makes a lot of sense.

I only saw the 58 W500, crushed cab. The 57 D500 bent running board other wise seems ok. 70 W500 CC busted window, mangled rear seat?? and too dark to see anything else. Likely no more radiator.

So now I have to deal with the impound lot. Might also have to pay the towing fee plus impound fees to get them back as if I had parked in a no parking zone.

The story is a lady with a junk yard bought the trucks from a guy who said he was tasked with getting rid of the trucks so she paid something for them and planed on scrapping them and had paperwork to prove it. Forged? Duped? Her drivers were delivering the trucks to the scrapper in Kansas who don't need to check VIN or paperwork.

The police have done nothing other than make my life a lot more difficult and cost me a lot of money.

I'm almost ready to just let them keep all but a few of them, but I suppose I should pay the money and drag them home again. Likely in a partially stripped and more damaged state then they were. I feel guilty about doing anything else. I'm just kind of fed up with it all.

I've been talking about it for a long time but I will likely have a large Dodge auction in the spring or summer. So start saving up if you want something.

It wasn't bad when I had a 160 acre farm and started collecting, but the city took that by threat of eminent domain to make soccer fields and at that point the trucks became a burden.

At some point there will probably be a revolutionary discovery of American 50s and 60s pickups and there will be a hay day for foresighted collectors who want to sell but I just don't think I have it in me any more to wait that long.

Thanks to everyone for the kind and helpful words.

Chris

wow.. the government sure does have his rights at heart dont they.. fricken imbeciles.. as long as they get their $$.. that is the most stupid BS I have ever heard.. the trucks get stolen, they get found, they get impounded, and HE has to pay for them to get out.. like that is what he wanted to do all along.  I would call my congressman on this one and put political pressure on these iceholes.  I would find out exactly who that person was who was delivering the trucks and hang his balls from some barbed wire.
