old driveshaft replacement

Cleaned up the old driveshaft and painted it but the corrosion and pits made me feel a little uneasy. At what point do you look at replaceing them? The origional 383 is up to 400+ on torque and HP and gears have gone to 3.55.

I've only replaced them after I've bent them.  :o  How rusty and pitted are we talking here?
