I have a 1969 and a 1974 John Deere 140, yes they can mow the lawn but that's not what they were built for.

Mopar440+6

Grew up running green. All three were sold when my parents stopped farming in 2004. Had a 1976 JD 4230, a 1978 or 1980 JD 3020 Power-Shift, and my favorite the 1968 JD 4010. All diesels. Didn't have a digital camera back then so no pics either...

When I bought the 2.5 acres I got a JD...cast iron engine but couldn't tell you what year. It was wonderful to me for many many years!

The only thing that isn't John Deere on this farm is an Intertrashonal feed grinder you can see in the first pic.

1940 B
1941 H
1951 MT
1953 40C
1952 50
1957 620
1968 3020 w/power shift
1972 4020
Mid 80's 510B backhoe

Here is a quick shot of 5 of them shortly after the builders finished the shop.

This one used to be a pull tractor but that tends to get expensive. We tamed this bad boy down a little so we could use it around the farm again. I think it's still running around 130hp.

1968 3020. It's in getting the PTO clutches rebuilt. While they were in there they found that the bolts that hold the power shift together were all finger loose and one had the head broke off. You could buy a good used car for what this is gonna cost but it's a good tractor.

This one is a 1941 H that I'm restoring for Dad. His dad had one just like it when he was a kid.

This is one that my grandfather bought brand new in 1940. He got the tractor, plows and cultivators for $700. This is what it looked like after being used for 63 years.

This is what it looks like now... About the hardest thing it does now is drive around town during the parade.

Tilar, Awesome Collecton of Green tractors.  My 3020 is a wide front with a 148 loader.  My Neighbor had to get a red/international feed grinder as well. JD, as you know doesn't make them anymore.  He is/was still upset that something red is inside his barn.  I will post some pic's this spring !!

We still have a 68 2510, a 1954? A with loader, and a 1946 A multi-fuel sitting quietly resting in the machine shed

Cool pic's...  Hey TILAR I am in the process of fixing my Powershift Trans. Should I keep going further back and redo my Planetary gears as well ?  I have the clutch pack/cone out that needed replaced (my PTO would not disengage). I am just wondering if I should take out the tower (instruments) out and get to that rear Planetary section (farthest back) PAIN in the Butt. Thanks, Mike

all you tractor fans would sh-t your pants if you'd have the oppertunity to walk around my place. My dad has been collecting tractors and other machinery ever since he was a young boy. I'll post up afew pictures of some of the tractors we have when I get home from work tomorrow. we have a operating 1914 Case 65HP Steam Engine, and he restored a 1947 CO-OP No.3 with the original Chrysler flathead 6 and 5 speed manual transmission.......... that little number has a top speed of 45mph.

Thanks, sometimes I wish my 3020 was a wide front end but its alright, The Powershift more than makes up for it. I wish the 4020 had a powershift in it.

That was the exact problem that I was having. The PTO would not disengage. Hell I could run probably 50 feet into a row of corn before it would get enough to stop the picker, :eek2: but the funny thing was once the tractor warmed up it would stop like it was supposed to. When they got in to fix that they found that broken bolt head, looked to be from a 5/16 or 3/8 bolt. They suggested going on in and trying to find where it came from and it turned out to be right at the back of the powershift. These bolts have locks around the head so since you're going in that far to change the cone, it might be a good idea to go ahead and pull everything and check those bolts because every one of mine were loose. The mechanic said that used to be a big problem.  I'm just glad they found it now instead of halfway through the field.

A guy I know down the road bought an old steam engine a couple years ago but I can never seem to catch him at his shop to look at it. There used to be a guy running around here years ago with an old Co-op but I haven't seen it in years. I seem to remember the old Silver Kings used to run pretty fast down the road too.

Man, You know how we are about pics!  ;) When I was growing up we had a 52 A. Actually back then the A, B and MT were the only tractors we had. That old A was a work horse.

We have John Deere A, B, and a 50. My father in law worked at John Deere for 30 years in Dubuque, Ia.

I have always been a Case man. Our big tractor is a Case 1570. We also have Massey 2745 with a V8 diesel.

The neighbor has a JD 6030 diesel for plowing. That thing is impressive.

I like the way your dads 5020 looks. Those big tires and all those weights look mean.

 Graet pic's. :drool5:
Anyone need Combine parts for a 4440 ? We are parting one out.  Great running 6 Cylinder (too big for pick-up truck)
in case someone was thinking about that.  Would fit into a Semi though. :scratchchin:

ACUDANUT

I am thinking of trading a 72 Charger Rallye for a 4020 with a powershift.  :shruggy:

Thanks.  Do a lot of pulling during the summer.  The G and 720 run pretty good, G has .090 over M&W pistons, bunch of head work, and bored out carb, runs 60hp.  There are a lot crazier G's out there, 7.5 bore and 11" stroke is 972ci, pretty amazing when a stock one is 6.12" X 7".  I use mine a bunch so I didn't want anything too radical.
The 720 has custom pumps and injectors to deliver extra fuel and a cam, it makes 85hp.
Dads 5020 has an M&W turbo on it, never had it on a dyno, factory they were around 130hp, guess this one is 165-175.

Are you parting a 4400 combine or a 4440 tractor?  If its a 4440 tractor keep the 466 motor for your 4020.
