Looks like GM has a leak of its 2009 Camaro styling concept... There were 9 pictures in total, some of a half-and-half clay mockup, and other areas like the interior were sketches.  As I post this, two of the pictures are still on an Autoweek Forums post... but probably not for long... check it out:

http://forums.autoweek.com/thread.jspa?forumID=31&threadID=24234&start=60&tstart=0

Five pictures in this thread:

I wonder if anyone copied the pictures?...   :nono:  :icon_smile_wink:

Looks like GM Security is going ballistic and making the GM related forums take the pictures down... seems to have scared the heck out of some Admins...   :scared:

Might be an intentional leak tho... to counter the press that the new Challenger concept is getting.   :shruggy:

Given the recent showing of the Challenger concept, I'd say they are acting. This was a publicity stunt plain and simple, and a smart move on their part. When guys are saying,"I'll wait to buy the Challenger" the folks at GM see opportunity to throw their hat into the mix. We'll see if either of them actually make it to market... ???

Wow, I'm not overly impressed.  The new Challenger looks a whole heap better than that thing...

I think this "leak" was intentional.....they are having enough trouble selling current cars so they need to give hope to the die hards.

Or it might look like this.
It's going to be on display at the Detroit auto show in January.
It's going to share the new platform with the next gen GTO but will be longer and wider than the GTO.
They killed the Zeta platform and decided to combine it with the GTO to save money.

It's an act.       They're just trying to drum up something... well... anything.   They couldn't satisfy the camero guys with the goat even tho it's probably a great car... even if it does look like a cavalier.    This camero... well... blah... I dunno.

Doesn't really impress me either. Then again I'm not much a of a GM fan either. But I do appreciate good looking automobiles no matter what the make. Just wouldn't own very many other then what Mopar makes. Would make a few exceptions for cars, but not too many.

This wouldn't be one of them.

I think the "leaked" photos look decent with the exception of the back end of the car. If they did something to keep the rear from looking too busy, or maybe have it fit with the rest of the design it would be much better. It gives the impression there were 2 designs shoved together.

Who the hell knows if those pics are real either? Probably photo trickery like the Challenger.  :D

It looks to me like there ARE two different body styles...seamed together at the center. They probably did this to compare the two...get feedback, check wind cooeficient, etc..

I don't know...this actually looks a little more real to me. Maybe just a clay mock-up, but more than likely it is a "real" physical object. If it weren't, I doubt youd see a seam between the two designs. 3D renderings are easy to make changes to...clay takes longer and bit more effort.

I agree. When I saw the first photo I thought of the 2 seater Caddy.

They looked at using the caddy platform but found that it wouldn't be cost effective. Their big deal now is using an assembly line that can be used through the entire model year. With the old f-body, they weren't able to keep the production going and thus it was not cost effective. The camaro will have to share a platform or it will never happen. The Holden version of the GTO is ending...thank god. The next GTO is to be built here in the U.S.. If there is another verson of the firebird, it will be the GTO version for sure. We'll never see another body line as limited as the camaro/firebird series again. GM renewed the Chevelle trademark last year and you can bet they're going to build another car with the chevelle name, possible on this same platform. That would give them at least 4 bodies on this platform. That would be enough to keep the assembly line going year round. Now we just have to wait and see.
Personally, I won't be buying any of these cars, but I love seeing all of the automakers build cool cars. I'll just drive one of my old mopars.

i hope they do build it,so the competition cause mopar to get the head out the ass,and build some good looking, affordable cars again-not the high priced german shit im forced to sell right now
