:-\ Unless I'm missing something these two years of Cuda (Price/ Value) seem to be climbing higher and faster than any other Muscle Era mass produced Mopar (as in Barracuda 318 up to Hemi Cuda'). I am :scratchchin: Curious to know if any other years, makes or models have climbed like these two.

:brickwall: Kind of makes me wish I had Caught a Cuda this Summer when I had 3 opportunities ( :rotz: Why did I have to go work on the Charger instead :D)

Best deals I found:
1. 1970 Barracuda Gran Coupe Rebuilt 340 (originally 318) rough interior, complete only rust in rear quarters $7,000 (NJ)
2. 1970 Barracuda 318, 727, Ricer interior no rust engine out of car but included $4,500 (CA) (50 miles away from me)
3. 1970 Barracuda 440 car (No Motor) Body had no rust $3,800 (OH)

That was just 6 months ago. Now I can't find a non rust bucket 70 Barracuda for less than $14,000 anywhere on the net. :shruggy:

There's a Reason those cars bring big coin....Afterall, if they weren't so popular with even the "Brand X" croud, they wouldn't be like they are...

Even NON Mopar people will pay out the azz for an E Body...That's just the way it is..Till YOU or I go to sell one that is... :D

They are still not what they used to be.  A couple weeks ago I helped a friend sell his two 71 Cudas (he is not computer literate).  Both cars needed complete restorations.  He actually received $4000.00 more for the convertible than what he was asking. He ended up getting $23,000.00 for the car. The hardtop was listed on this board, Craigslist, C&C.com for $7500.00 and a week went by and know one was interested in it.  He has since decided to keep it.  My point is he had a nearly complete 71 Barracuda Gran Coupe with near perfect grill, power windows and A/C for $7500.00, and for a week, and he could not give it away.

Craigslist is limited. If you were shopping for one, you would have to pull up EVERY single every major city and type 'Cuda in or (Charger) and that could take many hours.  E-bay it is only one single search.  :Twocents:

I think you'd find the ponycars have a similar trend at the other camps too.  Camaros outsell Chevelles and Mustangs outsell Torinos.  I can't say exactly why but my personal guess would be that intermediates (even our exalted Chargers) began, that's began as family cars and became supercars by drivetrain largely.   Yes, styling evolved to become a little more aggressive over time but the ponycars were always something different.  Now before someone brings up the point that Fords first intent for the Mustang was as a secretary's car (wasn't that a Shelby derision?) it was still meant for the unmarried crowd and styled to look sportier than it's Falcon father. :Twocents:

Thankfully I kept one or two... but they've been sky rocketing in price for a decade now.

And you CAN search all of craigslist.

I've ask'd I don't know how many Brand X'ers WHY the Cuda And Challenger From 1970-74 get all the attention from their "people"..And this is the response I get......

"Well, They look like a '69 Camaro and everybody loves the '67-'69 Camaro's"..The '68-'70 Charger is a good looking car, but it's so damn long and heavy".....

Good, let them admire the Charger but be too afraid of the size to buy them.

Doesn't work.....All they do is buy up the Charger's to sell to us then buy that over priced "Camaro Look-a-like" Cuda or Challenger...

This thread reminded me of a time I drove over to the local Plymouth dealer in my 1969 Charger to look at the new 1970 Cuda. I looked at the window sticker, choked a little, and thought wow, that much for this little car. What a ripoff. It confirmed to me that the Charger was a much better bang for the buck. Back then the Charger wasn't viewed as a big car. It was thought of as a mid-size car and not really a family car because it was a 2 door. 4 door cars back then were considered very uncool.

:icon_smile_angry: Damn so you are telling me the Ford and Chevy guys are partly to blame. INMO The 70 Cuda is far superior to any Camaro or Mustang.

From the amount of sales ads for 70 to 71 Cuda's I'm still shocked the prices are still climbing. There Just seems to be so many but all are for insane amounts of money :rotz:.

Actually I thought the prices of cudas have come down since 06,07,08. :shruggy:

Mike DC

Maybe they've just stayed the same while the rest of the hobby's prices have fallen since then.

bugsydog

I own a 71 and i think the prices are outragous, i could not afford to build another one.

1970Moparmann

Agree.... mines not a Cuda, but a Chally.

Prices a year ago went down considerably, but going back up.  I put my 72 Ralley on here trying to fund my Charger, but the more I went over the Challenger, I asked myself, will I ever find a better restoration project for the money, and the answer was no.  I have a numbers matching, CA car, Tx9 on Tx9 with air.   I told my friend to stick it as far back into his barn so I can't get it out!

Dam, why did I sell my Cuda!  :brickwall: :brickwall:  :brickwall:

I know where there is a black on black 71 Barracuda stuck in a small town in a guys garage for that last 25 years.  I last saw it as kid in the 80's and i bumped into him 2 years ago and he still has it.  I asked about buying it and he's still gonna hang onto it for awhile...  shucks!!!  :brickwall:

My uncle has a limelight 70 Cuda stashed away for some 10-15? yrs.  It's in need of a restoration but I was blown away by how cool it was. I've always been a b-body guy but I think I could enjoy a car like that!

Breaking news! Cuda prices out of control!!!!.

Oh wait... that started 20 years ago.

Belgium R/T -68

I have had E-bodys for the last 10 years and I think the prices are lower now then some years ago. Also a E-body is much cheaper in a full restoration since
it's easier/cleaner when it comes to interior, dash etc. Of course I might be wrong but that's the feeling I have after tearing one of each apart.

No offense but you're not looking. They're out there, there is a '70 Gran Coupe factory 383, 4-spd car on Craigslist right now, I think in Idaho and it runs and drives for $11,500. Very restoreable car. There has been some decent deals on Ebay lately too. There was a factory U-code Cuda on there that bid to around $11k I think (reserve not met), but it was a very clean restoreable California body.

I think prices have come down quite a bit.
