I logged in an hour ago, checked the forum and then went to check my yahoo. My neighbor stopped over and I talked to her for about an hour, came back clicked on my link to here and a window opened telling me I just won the prize of the day at DODGECHARGERFORUM a timer was running in the corner and a voice said I "Had 2 minutes to pick a prize and enter my email address!"......I closed the window and posted this heads up for others. Is anyone here experiencing anything like this? (I really don't think for 1 second I was really going to win 1,000.00 gift card or 2 Dell laptop computers do you?)  :o

Apparently the bottom-feeding amoebas that spend their time hacking and creating viruses have more time on their hands lately because of the nasty weather. There seems to be a rash of this activity in recent weeks gauging by how many virus threads have got on this site right now. Currently there's like four or more threads about this stuff. Hopefully when summer rolls around these pasty white losers will crawl out of their mommy's basement for another summer-long yet futile attempt at kissing their first girl and things will get back to normal for a while.

Yes and I've talked to my son now about fiddling with the laptops settings and adding "things" also as we have had a very good defense so far.  :scratchchin:

I never have any trouble. Here's why;

Spybot S&D, http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Ad-Aware, http://www.lavasoft.com/

Google Chrome Browser, http://www.google.com/chrome?hl=en

I don't use MS Outlook either, although I probably would if I could; it doesn't play nice over here.

All this stuff is freeware, and combined with *regularly updated* virus software I've been trouble-free in a swamp of digital VD for over two years.

Shirley is 70 something but if you want a photo......She's single loves to dance and take not so long walks on the beach. She has a rag top Mustang we call "Sally" and loves Hawaiian music. Can I set you up?  :shruggy: (You better be ready to dance if you say yes)  :lol:

Thanks for the advice, I found the problem, he's 16 and every now and then he get's the bright idea to change my settings or add something (like torrents I don't allow, or download something he knows is forbidden) and I jack him up real good about it. In this case he allowed "Billeo" and and I got an unexpected rash of pop ups. Nothing has gotten past my firewall ever with Vistas controls constantly asking permission and AVG running poor spybot never has anything to do but update and clear cookies and such. In 2 years running my system we have had good luck, but I know it's in part to a list of things we don't ever do (on purpose). He found out the HARD WAY Dad knows even to "check" the trash can now and then to see what he's been throwing out!  :slap: He's getting a chance to build and maintain his own computer next week and knows if he crashes it his no job butt will be stuck cuz I'm not shelling out a dime after his initial P.O. for a motherboard and some peripherals for his tower (I'm donating my DTV/Monitor and taking over 100% control of this HP dv6000) He hopes to be an IT something or other in a few years and loves his high school robotics club, they will do battle at the end of this month in Tampa at USF and we are all excited to see how they fair. All 3 of my kids have tried me one way or other. (Daughter was the unexpected worst of the lot) They all tried and ended up doing the walk of shame.  :cheers:
