So the question raises then did you take the car out for a victory lap 40 years later Doug? I mean you had to at least wanted to go out and fire it up while watching a replay of the race right? I would have wanted to.

No, it is still down at Tim's for another three weeks yet.    I did buy it a Valentine gift on Sunday in the way of a NOS ignition box.

How had was that to find for the car Doug? Like finding hen's teeth?

The car is very nice Doug and I'm glad that you found a way to acquire it. Enjoy it.

It was at the Chicago Mopar swap on Sunday.   I had to drive down to see Mopar John and to go through the swap.   (By the way John, thanks for the photo of the car.)

Those ignition systems were made by Prestolite and rebadged with a Mopar part number.   The circle track and factory drag cars used them.  They were also available over the counter through the Mopar High Performance catalogs of the time.   Although they are not super rare,  it is not every day you find a new one either.   I was very happy to find it as a failing box is something that could take the car down at any time.

Great score Doug, Congrats and happy B-Day (sort of) for your car!
How was the swap meet in Elmhurst?

You don't want to spoil a good picture like that...

69_500

No what we should do is get Doug a white jump suit like that and take a newer picture of him at the same track.

maxwellwedge

Ok Danny that's the best idea...................... but my idea was easier!

69_500

Thats true, but I'm not that good at photoshop, and I don't know if I even have a picture of Doug from a head on angle to try to crop it over Ramo's face. Well I might but it would be from about 25 years ago.

Mopar John

Doug,
I am glad you made it down to the swap! Thanks for the NOS decals! It was great that Jeff a previous owner of your car was there and you were able to show him the picture and discuss the car! The NOS ignition box was over the top! It's great how one thing leads to another in our hobby!

C5HM was nice enough to send me this one.  This is from Talladega in April of 1970.   I wouldn't mind having my face plugged in here.   I kind of like the black wheels too.
