Sounds like everyone is ready to let this thread die.  Fine by me, I'll let the car rust in pieces as well.   :2thumbs:

It can't close yet. I have to post the September sales?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

This is what your reading:
EPA- estimated 35 mile range based on 94MPGe (electric);  340-mile range based on 35 MPG city/40 highway (gas)

My figures are actual costs per mile  based on the amount of electricity is in a battery charge and how much it costs to charge the battery; compared to how much it would cost in gas to fill it and how much it cost per gallon to go one mile.
:violin: :blahblah:

Here are the EPA numbers.
Here are the official numbers:

1. 93 MPGe for all-electric range, combined city highway. This is expressed as miles per gallon equivalents showing how far the car can drive purely on the amount of electric energy that would be contained in a gallon of gas (33.7kwh)

2. Official full charge time is 4 hours at 240-v

3. EV Range is 35 miles officially, GM still says 25 to 50, based on driving style, temperature, and terrain.

4. Extended range charge-sustaining combined city and highway fuel economy is 37 mpg. It is 35 mpg city and 40 mpg highway.

5. Total range is 379 miles, 344 of gas range plus 35 miles electric range.

6. 60 MPG is the official overall combined number (MPGe + MPG) of fuel economy behavior over lifetime of the vehicle. It would be 93 if driving purely electric and 37 if you only drove using gas. This is the highest, of course, in the segment.

Spelled out nice and easy for you to see that gas per mile is a lot more then pure electric.  You guy just don't know what your talikng about.  You're never gonna change your mind, and I'm never gonna stop thinking it's a cool car for the times.  Nuff said here..

" Gas is cheaper than electricity.................I know what I'm running my cars on."
Sorry Fred.

Is there anyone anywhere who has ever actually achieved an EPA rated mileage figure?

A few pages late, I know, but can we get back to talking about that mini skirt bowling?  I find that far more interesting than anything else that has been posted in this thread.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Ghoste

Thats the beauty of the way this forum is set up though.   You can choose to read or not read any thread without fear of retribution or coercion.

Yes, I'm all for mini skirt bowling.  Do us a favor and post pics and we'll forget the chat about the gov. car.
Besides, no one caught my mistake.  Too late, I already fixed it.  It is cheaper to run on electricity than on gas.  My mistake.

I goofed up.  I was wrong.  But, you wasn't right either. :nana:

It isn't pure electric but obviously you don't own one anyway.

I don't know anybody with one.  Must be a coastal thing.  That's alright.   We'll see how they like sea salt.

lol, hell no. They use whatever stats the factory gives them and then they put all numbers within a 50% range either way on a large dart board, and whoever gets a bullseye gets to pick the numbers.

I seem to remember the Volt was at a show or political event as a prototype and Onumbnuts saw it and told them to put it into production and we as taxpayers would pickup the tab on any loses. Anyone else hear anything like that?

Sometimes I think its still a useful debate and then the next time I feel like its a pissing contest to see who types the last word.

Hell no. Every new vehicle I have bought has never achieved the EPA/EPG..Even if I put it it neutral and coast down a hill. :brickwall:

Leave it in the garage.  Then you'll acheive it.

So what was the rating back in 69?  I get a whopping 10 mpg when I keep my foot out of it.  11 if the wind is not too much.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Considering the times, I don't think they cared.  Might be part of the reason for the crunch.

Ghoste

They didn't rate them back then, no EPA or CAFE.  Some of the magazines would track and your results are near par with what most of them reported.  I've seen them say anything from 12 to 15.

Good choice, easy to refuel, long range, usually long lived and  probably better resale too..

NHCharger

The problem I have with this car is that it's being pounded down our throats by the Obama thugament. I read somewhere that they are offering an additional 10k in rebates. If that doesn't help the sales maybe the government will start offering tax deductions for buying a Chebbie product since the government owns GM. This volt hype is just part of the Obama propaganda machine showing how his green energy initiatives are working.
